The Citadel from Half-Life 2!

"There was an illusion of safety, for a time. And then the Citadels appeared. It happened in a split second, all over the world. A chunk would disappear from the center of a city, to be replaced an instant later by one of these... headquarters for the Combine. Invasion Central."

The Citadel of City 17 is the looming, metallic tower that houses a vast army of the alien Combine race, as well as the administration of Dr. Wallace Breen, who negotiated the Earth's surrender 20 years before, after the Combine had decimated all of Earths' armed forces in what was to be known as the Seven Hour War.

With 5 billion humans killed in the war and its aftermath, and no means to reproduce as long the Combine Suppression Field is activated, the rest of humanity is close to becoming assimilated into the Combine as yet another military "synth" in the massive Combine war machine.

Unless, the One Free Man returns, raises the crowbar and pushes humanity up against the totalitarian alien oppressors...
