Lysandra is part of the Aenyr, an alien species.

Holy Arcanum: A title bestowed upon those few individuals who has mastered both holy and arcane magic.

Exeedingly difficult, as the two magical arts are very different from each other.
One derives energy from the body and crystals that pull in arcane energy,
the other draws energy directly from the soul.

The Aenyr where being pursued by another species across the stars.
Badly damaged, their ship crashed on earth.

When the crash occurred, the human rulers of the kingdom in which they crashed where quick to respond.
When the army arrived, the Aenyr where being assaulted by their pursuers.
Since both sides where unknown to them, the humans where unsure what to do.
But when they saw the attacking specie use what they knew as Chaos magic, they knew who to help.

They rushed in with holy magic, suprising both sides.
Together, the humans and Aenyr forced the hostile species to flee.

With the ship too badly damaged to repair, the aenyr had no means to leave earth.
The 300 Aenyr that had survived became guests of the kingdom, the crash site and surrounding forests and mountains
where given to them to settle in, as long as they followed the laws of the kingdom.

The Aenyr had never seen holy magic before and the humans had never known arcane magic.
With a shared interest of learning, their mages began teaching each other.

The Aenyr where curious how the humans knew of the magic their pursuers had used,
their mages explained that Chaos magic is the destructive counterpart to holy magic.
Holy magic channels energy from the soul, to heal, fly, blind, imbue with strength etc.

Chaos magic CONSUMES energy of the soul for far greater effect, if one is not careful it can kill the user.
Worst of all, it can use other beings soul as fuel for destructive spells!
As such it has become forbidden and seen as a truly evil art.

After three centuries, the Aenyr had grown to about a thousand in number, they had become
an integral part of human society, in particular in the magical sector.

Arcane magic was more difficult for the humans to master.
The Aenyr had brought crystals with them on their ship, these crystals pull in arcane energy from all
around. It is the background energy of creation itself.

The Aenyr can pull in arcane energy into their bodies, just as the crystals.
They believe this is because their people lived in close proximity to the crystals for millenia,
changing them.

Those who master it, can temporarily give the energy solid form, to create weapons, projectiles
and barriers. The more skilled one is, more complex forms with longer duration can be maintained.

The Aenyr use the crystals to enhance their arcane spells, humans need them to cast any arcane magic at all.

Lysandra is one of the few who have fully mastered both arts, she has fought alongside humanity for
twelve years, their enemies are just as much her enemies.
The weapon she wields helps maintain its basic energy form for extended time, she can manipulate it to
change its shape and length but doing so expends energy.

They all believe that the specie that pursued the Aenyr, that forced them to flee from their homeworld,
would one day return.

They wanted to use the Aenyrs arcane-infused bodies and souls for experimentation with Chaos magic,
channeling it into themselves to create magical mutations and bringing them closer to their gods.
Holy magic was considered a threat as well, one that must be crushed.

So both species remains vigilant, even after three centuries. For the Threat remains.

The Aenyr are between 2,1 to 2,4 meters, with the exception of their height, they are fairly human-sized.
