"It's complicated" is adult-ese for "I don't want to admit that I don't have a good reason." Or occasionally for "I would need to give you the sex talk before I could explain this, and I don't want to do that now."

Good strip as always! I do have a few criticisms, but nothing mean. The first is that the proportions make it seem as though Nightmare Nyx shrank, or the fillies grew to standard pony size. I assume this was to keep them in the same frane, since Nighty towers over most adult ponies. I also would have liked to have seen a reaction shot when Nyx reveals that she did indeed seal away the Princesses and brought about eternal night. Not important, but I would have liked to have seen their expressions when they ask why.
Nothing against your work, which is pretty good. I like the embarrassed look Nightmare Nyx has in some of the final panels. It is cute.
I liked this scene in the original fic. Have you noticed that Nightmare Moon was quite literally served fillies for dessert, and her reaction is to chide them for being so irresponsible? It’s like she’s their big sister now! This scene is the turning point in the story, because Nightmare now has to face her friends. If your actions are something you would be ashamed to tell your friends, then they were most certainly terrible indeed. It makes the harmful effects of her actions truely real. And what happens next is certainly one of her nastiest actions, even if it wasn’t completely her fault.
I wonder if Granny Smith ever forgave her...
Anyway, keep up the good work! I always enjoy reading the updates!

Ok, that would have been a detail I’d of loved to have seen.
Then again, perhaps Nyx’s shame was detail enough. I have another question for you. To those who don’t know the story, spoilers are ahead, so you should stop reading NOW.
When Luna returns Nyx back to a filly, will you draw her with fangs still? Or do you intend to return her teeth to normal?
How does she eat hay with those, anyway?

I thought so. Pen Stroke never mentioned fangs. Of course, Past Sins was written before the fangs were ret-conned in. I wonder what Nyx thinks of the Nightmare Night story? We shall never know, since I think Pen Stroke is finished with Nyx tales now.

What did imagine Nyx sounding like at this stage? I keep thinking that she sounds EXACTLY like Nightmare Moon. I imagine he did, too.

*g* You know what I find funny about this? Hitler probably didn't seem scary to his closest friends, yet look at what he did.
Now let me clarify that by saying that we all KNOW Nyx won't become a murderous dictator in this story.

Tabitha St. Germain had a lot of problems nailing the voice for Nightmare Moon. She even lost the voice several times in the debut! She can sound more like an angry Luna or a certain little dog who really loves alphabet soup. The Season 5 voice seems to be the most consistent and sounds like a different character than Luna.
Personally, I prefer the Season 5 voice and also the “ Summer sun” voice. (OH, my beloved subjects!). I like that one because it is so deep and smooth. It’s a very attractive voice. I like to think that without the insanity, her contralto would be soothing to the fillies. Nightmare is also the adult in the room, and is talking more like a parent.

Wow, their is a lot of conflicting thoughts going on here in Nyx's mind. She may be in a different body and mindset, but its like she still has a soft spot for her past friends that she can't let go of.
