As a result of a pampered childhood, Susumu grew to be quite an arrogant person. He has confidence in himself and his beliefs, and is quick to defend the latter passionately. Due to his hot temper, this often leads to more conflicts than intended.Susumu is also loyal to a fault, and when he trusts he trusts with his whole heart. It is somewhat childish; he puts all absolute faith into something when he thinks it deserves it. At times, he is blindly optimistic—a bit of a romantic really.He's very comfortable in his own skin, and keeps himself focused on the here and now. Susumu prefers to forget about problems past, and doesn't let worries of the future cloud his mind. He's very level-headed in this respect—and probably this respect only. Susumu can be quite fiery and impulsive, especially concerning things he believes in, and he can act without thinking. He is also very humorous and sardonic at the worst times—Susumu mostly does things to amuse himself, or his friends.Although he holds many bad qualities, Susumu is a trustworthy friend and usually means well—but his blithe ignorance can hold serious consequences. He is cheeky and mischievous, and usually comes off as a bit (a lot) rude due to this. He tries not to mind the opinions of others, as long as those closest to him still think highly of him.He can be a bit irrational, jumping to the most idiotic conclusions. But an idiot he may be, Susumu will try his best at anything he does. The few years at Arishima have mellowed him out, and slowly but surely, Susumu has grown to be a more responsible person. He is a natural-born leader (though prone to abusing his power in the name of humour), and though he may not show it well, he genuinely cares for his fellow students.
History:

Susumu was born and raised in Iwamori, the only child of a fairly well-off couple. He was doted on by his mother since birth, and is accurately labelled a ‘mama’s boy’. His mother, Chikako, was the life of the party and generally drew people to her with her sharp wit and humour. She was constantly torn between spoiling her son rotten and teaching him to be a good person. Luckily, she did a bit of both, reprimanding him when necessary but never having the boy do any chores if she could help it, leaving him to focus on school.Elementary school passed by like a breeze, and only when he entered middle school did things seem to change. For one, he made quick friends with a boy named Isamu, who soon become his closest friend. For another, Susumu seemed to like being the center of attention, and was widely popular. He was known for his witty humour, which seemed to mostly consist of mocking other students. A light remark might be made, and he could make the entire class laugh—save for the joke’s target. Susumu continued down this road, arrogance and ego building up. Even if he didn’t have cruel intentions, Susumu found himself playing jokes on the innocent—but just for fun of course! It was all well and funny…His careless jokes ceased to be funny to onlookers, his actions bordering on outright bullying. As he neared graduation, Susumu’s best friend moved to Tokyo; Isamu’s parents had received a promotion. Susumu was devastated to lose his closest friend, and vehemently refused to lose contact with him.It was most likely the loss of his partner-in-crime that catalysed a change in Susumu. His friend was always the more callous of the two, and without him there, Susumu began to see his simple jokes and pranks weren't all that humourous, and did more damage than make people laugh. However, it was only until a prank concerning a close friend led to serious repercussions did Susumu change for the better. In his first year of high school, Susumu received a record number of detentions—his mother pulled something of an intervention, and told him he needed to change. Susumu agreed.He still did the occasional prank, but during second year it was as clear as it was surprising that Susumu seemed to have matured. Regardless, it still came as a shock to everyone when he received the title of StuCo president. His mother and father wouldn't stop laughing at him for the next few days (because someone like Susumu was student council president?), and Isamu berated him for becoming a goody-two-shoes — but nonetheless, as he held the letter that announced his new position, Susumu hoped he could wear the title with pride.

Relationships:

Hisakawa Chikako – mother // They have a tight bond and are very similar people. The two are both very humorous, making jokes and snappy remarks at each other whenever possible, and in the fondest manner. His personality mostly stemmed from everything his mother did for him, and he strives to be a good person she can brag about.

Hisakawa Nori – father // Although Susumu is extremely close to his mother, his father is not far behind. Nori loves his son with an exasperated disposition. The man works a lot to keep his family happy, and is not always present at the dinner table.

Ito Takara – cousin // A relative who Susumu holds in disdain; annoyingly enough, she often visits Iwamori to get away from the city air. He mostly stays out of her way when she comes to visit. The main reason he dislikes her is because she is so demanding—a complete hypocrite, Susumu is.

Aizawa Isamu – best friend // Despite only being friends for a few years (as opposed to all the childhood friends in the city), Susumu and Isamu are like brothers, twins even. When Isamu was still in Iwamori, you only need look for him to find Susumu.

Mori Takuma – friend // A young man Susumu passes by everyday on the way to school, he became something of a role model to Susumu and Isamu. He works as a farmer and likes to give life advice.
