No your animals are normal. My families hens love cracked eggs too.
Its funny how many animals resort to cannibalism. One our pigs started killing her piglets to eat them... bad pig. But her name was Delicious for a reason.

My cat likes earwax... She attacks me in my sleep and licks in my ear. Would it be weird if I said it tickled?? XD

I feed my chickens the cracked eggs, or when we have too many we feed them the older ones.

Silver laced wine dot! So pretty... I used to have a few of those. Now I only have rhodie mixes and black rocks.
Aaanyway. Do people really not believe hens eat their eggs? Ours are always doing it. It's good for them, just very annoying because we usually sell our eggs. Naughty hennies....
You know, someone I met once said they didn't eat eggs because the idea of it freaked them out since an egg was like 'a chicken's period'. So by that logic.... nasty. xD

Yeaahh I get a lot of people accusing me of lying or being a freak when I feed my chickens their eggs. Not sure why it's so hard to believe ):

Random, but my rooster (Emmet :3) is the same. With the cat food. He got in a fight with the other rooster (Red) and lost despite his THREE INCH SPURS so now he free ranges and lost his harem. He hangs out on our back porch with our coughsixcough cats. He eats the cat's food and sleeps with them when it gets cold. He also tries to jump into the car...
/random.

Sounds like my rooster Error. His brother kicked him out of the flock so he's real lonely now ): He hangs out with whatever cat he can find, and us if we're out and about.

That's so cute! (Him hanging out with you and the cats, not his brother kicking him out) I didn't think that cats and chickens would get along so well!
And the names you gave them are brilliant! I wish my family was creative like that! I mean, Error? I love it!

Are they rhode island reds? They were found as chicks living in a ditch by the road, so we don't know what their breeding is ):

HAHA ohh yes that happens to our chickens as well from time to time.
We have one rooster who goes wherever he wants (9 times out of 10 OUTSIDE the fenced backyard, lol) and he's always stealing dog food from my dog's dish xDD

Our hens USED to stay in the gardens like good little chickens, but once we got the roosters they suddenly had the balls to go ALL OVER. In the forest, all the way across the road in our neighbors yards . . .
I want more so bad ): I've been craving some feather footed chickens again. They're my faaavorite.

HAHA ohh those silly chickens
when more than one or two decides to start wandering about like that, they generally get carted off by coyotes
luckily the one roaming around now is The King of Town and is an excellent coyote-evader xDD
ahhhfjhf featherfoots are so damn cute
i have silkies which are kind of like them
except totally not c:

Oh goodness reminds me of when we had coyotes for one summer. They were terrifying to hear in the middle of the night. Then they moved on to look for better water and now we're just stuck with foxes who think it's funny to SCREAM outside my window D<

SpongeMuffin In reply to FastPuck [2010-06-20 00:09:08 +0000 UTC]
The foxes are pretty cute, but soooo scary to hear in the middle of the night D8 Always leaves me in a panic wondering if I locked the chicken coop door enough.
Ewww that sounds horrible! The owners around here are . . . okay. No one locks their dogs up though, so there's always a tiny pack of them running around the road chasing joggers and bikers.
I hate dogs D<
