Okay so uh

recently I've gotten this idea for my own fan continent based on WoF from the idea of some tribes that are wingless. And suddenly from that small thought, I elaborated into 5 separate tribes that I think are cool enough to put on here. Starting with SirenScales. (all dragons on this island are ‘Scales' instead of 'Wings’)

SirenScales are historically the big bullies of the continent of Chimarra. They're one of the two larger tribes (both in size & population) and they inhabit all the coast around the continent, making it nearly impossible for any other tribe to ever leave the island - especially since they don't have any wings (except for one tribe but I'll get to that later).

SirenScales will eat anything that's meat, including other dragons. In fact, certain pods will specifically try to prey on another tribe, which can very quickly get out of hand. They nearly drove ShoreScales to extinction, not only due to preying on them, but also by taking over all their territories.

SirenScales are relentless to put it simply, and they have a pretty huge population to spread around the entire continent (though Chimarra isn't the largest continent). They don't have any orderly kind of social structure or government, and the most they have is certain large pods having an Alpha Queen or (less commonly) King. Despite being separated into different pods, that can be completely distanced from each other, SirenScales generally get along with other SirenScales. Though, hostile pods and ones that cannibalize on other SirenScales can rarely happen, but those pods tend to get killed off by the bigger ones before they cause too much trouble.

In the past SirenScales have actually pushed more onto land, and even raided into freshwater systems, but they've since been pushed back by the other largest tribe in Chimarra.

SirenScales have a complex system of communicating underwater through humming or clicking noises. Thanks to their wide range of vocal ability they are also able to mimic other dragons or animal noises. Usually SirenScales don't actually learn how to speak in the dryland dragon’s language at all unless they're higher up in a larger pod or something. Most
of the time when they try to speak, their sentences are somewhat jumbled or broken, unless they had grown up hearing it or something.
One hunting tactic of SirenScales is to lure their prey with a sound that attracts them, once again often picking on ShoreScales - who also use certain sounds to communicate.

SirenScale names (after translating it from their language) are most often things like ‘SharkEater', ‘BloodWater’ or ‘ShellBite'
The names don’t usually make complete sense, but they sound kind of intimidating?

SirenScales hate excessive heat, like harsh sunlight or fire. Their fins burn and dry up easily too, so whenever SirenScales move onto land it’s usually in the night.

SirenScales aren't quite as effective on land, but they can be surprisingly fast as long as they don't trip over their own fins. They have no climbing skill whatsoever, though.

Also forgot to put on this ref that SirenScales can see in the dark and also have really sharp hearing as well.

They're also probably the least advanced tribe overall. They really have a reputation for being mindless, emotionless predators, but they're pretty clever and form strong loyalties with other SirenScales.

Rarely SirenScales can have a mutation that gives them stinging tendrils like a jellyfish off of their tail fins and sometimes head fins. The stinging actually isn't that effective for thick-scaly things like dragons (unless used on the face or something) - but it's darn good for stunning other prey and schools of fish.

(If I make these guys a species or something, they'll probably be open along with the other 4 tribes? I’m planning to draw and upload ref concepts for the other 4 too, since my brain is just way too excited with this idea right now)
