That's the ship name, from what I've gathered. uwuDanny/Valerie was a really interesting pairing and, going back and watching Danny Phantom, I really wish they might have done more with it. Because it was really well crafted, they just didn't ... go with it. Which is sad. Because the more I think on it, the more I like that ship, and honestly the more I wish it was canon.
And that Danny and Valerie had formally revealed their identities to each other. That too. ;w;
Ah well. Whatever the case, here's Danny and Valerie. I personally think Danny's trying to get his feelings across/apologize, but it could just as easily be a lead up to a kiss. Could be both.

I suspect that Nick copped out on it, finding that it was easier to animate and depict Sam with Danny. Otherwise, the emotional baggage could have resulted in a lot of extra work. (Maybe a whole extra season!

I doubt that, and to be clear, I also ship Danny/Sam. I think it was more, though, that they wanted to go with what had always kinda been "the original pairing." In one of the old conceptions for Danny Phantom, him and Sam were supposed to be very connected, and of course in this, we saw them be very close from start to finish.
Still, I feel like Valerie/Danny warrants some more attention and could, at least, be another pairing in an alternate timeline ... if Nick were ever willing to make an alternate one that picked up after Season 2 ... or reboot Danny Phantom at all.

Yes! I so wish they could had been a couple again at the finale. They had a good thing going and it could had been interesting to see Valerie deal with the fact that she tried to eliminate the guy she loved and get angry with herself.

I hadn't really thought about that side of it. I more thought of her trying to come to figure out whether she still liked Danny knowing he was Phantom. Though, ultimately, I would have like a lot more of Danny trying to come clean and explain all the mishappenings that got Valerie and her dad in trouble, while also trying to make up for it. They had really good chemistry, and I would like to see an alternate timeline take where things go differently.
It gives me a lot of feelings man. ;w;

For me it kinda depends. I can see two alternate universes where Sam really doesn't have a crush on Danny (and so isn't bothered by it) and one where Sam does have a crush but doesn't get horribly petty (or at least stay that way for long).

I think she would be somewhat bothered trhat they're dating. Maybe not because she too has a crush on Danny but rather she has a hard time accepting Valerie to the team. She and the others has been a trio for such a long time and since Valerie has tried to destroy Danny it would take Sam time to adjust having Valerie around.
In the end they would be good friends(and chat about how dorky the guys are.)
Now if Sam had a crush on Danny that could be some serious drama.
