I love how you added (what looks like) thrusters on the front of the ship for added manueverability

Indeed, more thrusters in more evenly spread locations means more maneuverability.

Never enough guns. I tried to make it so most of the "defensive" guns were circled around the bridge and engines, and the "Offensive" weapons were on that front part.

I get my inspiration for these from WWII era ships a lot.

Yeah battleships are badass. Too bad they're too expensive to maintain.

indeed I do. The way I imagine my guys have engineered their ships is that the weapons may not put out a lot of energy per shot, but they can put out a lot of shots. So more turrets = more shots going out = more chance to hit hostile ships, which are moving pretty fast.

I'm also assuming that the cannons aren't so accurate either xD

as accurate as highly accelerated particles can be. Id imagine it could be hard to make a little particle moving at high speed via magnets go exactly where you want it too.

Perhaps you should mount something similar to real-life anti-air mounts on ships, like the Phalanx CIWS. The gatling guns adapt very well to an anti-fighter role.

indeed I would, but in this universe, I like to think the design philosophy is let the big guns fight the big guns, and the fast ones fight the fast ones. So the big ships like these have some anti fighter capability, enough to where they can fend off a few fighters or so quite easily, but a fighter swarm would be difficult. Whereas if it was facing a frigate or something, it would do quite well against it. Likewise, a single fighter would be a fair fight against a single fighter, but put it against this thing, and it doesn't have the firepower. Now say that this ship was an anti fighter version loaded with tons of those CIWS platforms, then it would be a different story. It's all about how you load out the turrets

I see. You like to have almost complete specialization in your ships. That's a solid philosophy, assuming that the enemy follows the same one. I would just think that maybe the fighters have torpedoes or something that could easily cripple these larger ships.

These are privately owned military ships I see. Quite interesting.

Yes, the way this company works, in my imagination, is if you have the money for it, you can buy it. No questions asked. They are a company based out of a small independent sector free from these pesky mega-governments and their rules and silly things like that haha.

Sounds like a private military arms manufacturer, of no particular nation. So if war breaks out, this company will supply both sides?

for instance, a private individual probably has no need, or use for, a destroyer like this. But say a mining company needs some security for its mining op because they have been raided by pirates one too many times, they might need something like this, in which case VSMG is more than happy to provide, if they have the credits.

If it's profitable, sure. Or maybe they pick one side that they want to supply depending on situation. I tend to think of them, and design their ships this way, as a company whose primary purpose is to manufacture ships for the Asgardian Fleet ( They are based on Asgard, in the Valhalla independent sector ), and its secondary function is the sale of ships to private individuals and other companies.
