Submission for the Hail Gay Satan zine being put out by super friend and radical roommate, partydog ! The zine will be out on the 21st of May, but I got the go-ahead to post my submission so... enjoy and please check it out!I think this is about as pastel as my art will ever get, ahaha.

Sadly, there is. Religion is a scurge on the human race. One of the biggest, most common sources of hate around the world.
Not to mention wholly illogical, promoting blind conformity and closed-mindedness, spreading false information that hurts us us as a species and slows down our collective development, both socially AND scientifically.Β
A thing that causes that much harm should be hated. NEEDS to be hated.
And it must be fought against with tooth and nail. Never to be given an inch. Never to be given any credibility. Never to be given any power.

Well then good on those friends of yours. I never said that religious people are evil. Of course they aren't not all of them anyway.
Religious people are just like non-religious people. People. There are good ones and there are bad ones.
There are plenty of good religious people in the world. My own family included. Whom I love.
But that doesn't change reality. And the reality is that religion, despite the many good religious people in the world, is causing a disturbing amount of hate, bigotry, discrimination, violence, regression and other atrocities around the world.
This is an inescapable fact. And I can prove it to you if you doubt me. Just say the word.

In addition to that there are also numerous bloggs, twitter-accounts, subreddits, etc. dedicated to highlighting and discussing the harm of religion. I would suggest checking them out and get some knowledge and perspective on just how much harm religion is really doing that you may not be aware of.

I do not WISH for hate. I don't like hate. Ideally, hate should not exist.
But knowing how much harm religion causes, I simply cannot concieve of any other rational opinion to have of it.
It is because of the hate and suffering that it spreads, that I hate it. I hate religion (NOT religious people) in the same way that I hate animal abuse and rape.

Wow, you certainly do put out a good argument! I can't say I agree with everything your saying, but it all holds truth and you've obviously done your research. It's nice to stumble upon little comment debates like these that remain civilized and educated even if there are different views on the subject at hand. Nice job!

I always try to be as rational, clear minded and civil as possible. Obviously, as I am a fallible human being like all others, that isn't always so easy, but I try as good as I can.
If nothing else then to serve as a good example to whomever else may see it, in a small attempt to do what I can to change the climate and culture of discussion on the internet, where disagreements, debates and discussions so often devolve into nothing but insults, agitation, irrationality and closed-mindedness.
The latter two of which get enhanced and more overpowering and prevalent the more of the two former are displayed, which agan creates more insults and agitation, creating a vicious cycle of hate and prejudice where it should've been something that would serve to bring greater understanding about the points of view of other people, especially of the opinions and beliefs of those that one disagrees with.
So that even if they still don't end up changing their minds, at least they understand better why the "opposing" party think and believe the way they do.
Which, the way I see it, can only be beneficial. To everyone.
One can never have too much understanding or too much perspective. Or at least that's my belief anyway.
In fact, I believe that this almost refusal to understand the reasoning of the opposing view and the neuances within is one of, if not THE one thing that causes the most harm in real life politics. Especially in places where there is a significant divide, such as in the US.
But that's a whole other discussion right there.

Thank you. You seem like a good person too. Many people would start throwing insults at this point, so I think it speaks positively about your character that you didn't. So thank you for that as well.
It's totally okay if you don't agree with me. All I wish is to at least give people who may disagree with me a better understanding of why I think the way I do. So that they don't think that I'm just being an irrational, prejudiced prick.
And I always want to learn more on why other people think the way they do as well. The more knowledge, insight and understanding one has about other people's views, the better it would be for everyone, I believe.
And will certainly, if nothing else, make for far more productive and civilized discussions and debates.
As I like to say, one can never have too much understanding or perspective on things.

So why do you believe that Christianity is anti-science? Science says to test out multiple ideas and opinions, believing only in the theory of evolution is beyond stupidity. Also how can you say you hate religion when you obviously only hate Christians. Do you hate Buddhists? Muslims? Do you hate those religions too? And btw religion is a belief, meaning it is built into the human mind. Causing you to hate humanity itself not just religion. Plus the theory of Christianity teaches people only to love one another and even to love your enemies meaning that there is no hate involved. Since you must retort to hate and hating doesn't this mean your theory can't even support itself? I'd like to hear back from you when your no busy. π π€
