Hello from Project Comment.
I want to begin by saying that I really enjoy this piece. It's concept is thought-provoking and entertaining. I also appreciate your technique: using stippling for the main elements and hatching for the border. That's a creative combination, and it works really well here. Part of me thinks that the background would have worked better without the visible stroke marks, but part of me thinks that the mottled look adds depth and interest to the space field. So I suppose that either would have worked well.
But this is a Project Comment comment, so I have to do more than merely praise; I must also offer some constructive criticism. To that end, I can really only make two observations. The first is something I myself an guilty of, and that is of using free-hand circles. This is especially noticeable in the giraffe's helmet. I'm sure it's meant to be round and smooth, but it looks quite...lumpy, especially at the seam along the upper edge of the face shield. I'm not saying you have to use a circle template or a compass. I'm just saying that taking a bit more time to smooth that curve out would have made a noticeable improvement. The second item I suspect you're already aware of: the giraffe's nose gets clipped off inside the helmet. I think it would have looked nicer if the helmet were bigger, tilted at a different angle, rotated so the nose was behind glass, not helmet-body, or if the giraffe's face turned slightly more toward the viewer.
These are ways I think your really good drawing could be even better, and I hope you find the suggestions helpful. I look forward to seeing what else you produce.

How cute! ^_^ I really love that texture in the background, as well as how you shaded everything with pin-prick dots.

Hello!
I just wanted to comment on your piece. The first thing i'd like to talk about is the background, it really caught my eye in the gallery and pulls the viewer in for a closer look. You can tell you spent time on it, and i like how to made the outline of the background, especially the clouds. Now for the giraffe, the giraffe is extremely realistic, I adore the way you shade and detail the fur, especial under the helmet! The face is the most realistic part, and it looks so whimsical and cute with the helmet! I really like the space theme, and since it is so random to think of a giraffe wearing an astronaut helmet in space, that's why I like it! You did the planets very well even though they are small, way better than I could do! Everything seems to flow nicely and the pose and objects aren't placed awkwardly or stiffly, but my favorite part is how you made the cord for the helmet wind around it's neck, it looks so effortless and makes the whole thing fit together. Good job and keep at it

What a nice surprise! This is almost exactly the type of thing I would have drawn - or, at least, would have TRIED to draw - back when I was about 8 or 9. I loved both animals and robots, so I would sometimes imagine animals in sci-fi settings. But in fact I never actually drew that stuff; the closest I came was drawing a cartoon depicting a planet of sentient books - the Planet of the Books. (I was 11, and it was a very long plane flight to Hawaii for summer vacation.)
I love the snowflake-like stars, the cratered planets/moons, and most of all the realistic cheekbones on the giraffe. What I think really "sells" your drawing, I think, is the old-fashioned style combined with the indifferent and almost bored look on the giraffe's face. This has a very postmodern, satirical look to it that would be perfect for a cover of the NEW YORKER - though I'm not sure what the point of the cover would be, not that it would matter too much because NEW YORKER covers tend to be esoteric anyway.
In all seriousness, though, you should attempt to sell this, or have it placed in a gallery! Lots of Californians would love to have this on their wall, and also people from New York and New Jersey. If you live in any of those three places, I strongly recommend putting it out there!
