I think the colors are great. To me the coloring is beautiful. I wish I could give you more tips to the tablet other than just play with it...but I just got mine.

Only thing i don't like is how theres no real defenition of color as far as solidity in the foreground, but that may be intentional.

I will admit, I've watched and practically memorized a lot of photoshop tutorials over the years, and was frustrated because none of their methods worked for me. I now realize it's because those methods are meant for using a tablet.
It was kinda intentional, but I probably should have used more solid colors...

I think the coloring looks really good so far! It has that kind of washed out look that reminds me kinda of Loddoss Wars or something.
With the tablet, I agree with the idea of doing a sketch my hand, scanning it in, and then "inking" it with the tablet. It'll give you something to go off of, and will help you get used to forming coherent lines and stuff. Basically, practice, practice, practice!

Looking fantastic so far! I can't believe this is only your first time coloring with a tablet! Even if you don't feel used to it yet, I think you're going to get the hang of it in no time.
As far as tablet tips go, personally, the way I got used to drawing with my tablet at first was by taking line art I had already drawn in pencil, then scanning it onto the computer and tracing over it with the tablet in photoshop. That way I could get used to drawing the same way with the tablet as I would with a traditional medium. And now I can draw with the tablet alone, almost as well as I can with pencil.

Well maybe I shouldn't say first time with a tablet... I've done doodles before, but they were so awful I erased them as fast as I could. 
You know, that tracing thing sounds like a really good idea. Coloring lines was already so much easier than drawing something from scratch.

I think you did excellent on the coloring job - it looks like one of those pretty pastel (or whatever the term is) pictures with the faded colors.
As for tablet skills, I don't even have a tablet so I can't even begin to contemplate critiquing your technique.
