Description Kimono: better than you since 2003.

I'm particularly proud of this balloon, though I still see plenty to improve on. This is a 16-inch-ish Tufftex or Perfect Products, pictured with G3 1st year Kimono, who served as my snooty model. <3 Kimono so much!

I've discovered quite a bit about working with sharpie on balloon. For instance, I outline in the lightest body color first, and if I really, REALLY need to erase something, I can go over it with dry-erase marker and then quickly rub it out with rubbing alcohol. The alcohol will lighten but not erase the sharpie. It'll also leave some light color on that area, which is pretty light and hard to see. I also can't rule out that it has any chemical effect on the latex, but we got this one pretty big and it hasn't popped.

When I start working with a balloon, I inflate it midway so I have a nice full shape, but it isn't taut and there's no neck (assuming you're working with a balloon that GETS taut). Later I inflate it fully, and sometimes I'll even do so before the final black outline so that the outline is thinner. I have an ultra-fine black sharpie that works wonders on eyes and symbols, and also outlines (see Fluttershy in scraps) if that's what I'm after. But, be VERY careful with ultra-fine pens, as they can puncture or damage balloons. I attempted to trace a design onto a clear balloon (more on that later) and I believe it was due to the point of the pen that it popped on inflation!

Kimono is my favorite pony too. Well done.

They aren't balloon clips, they're food bag clips from Ikea. They aren't as secure as they could be. But they work pretty decently if you're careful.

It's a very nice work, I can't believe you invest so much effort in you balloon art, and I thought I was investing much time in my balloon art. And yes, you're right, very careful with fine point pens? I guess you used a fine point marker, isn't it? I see you use balloon clips for your balloons, it's a shame I can't get one of those here

XD That's just so cute to see them standing next to a picture of themselves like that. Lotsa info on how to work with the medium, and a solid-looking picture too. Thanks for sharing. :3

I don't understand, I thought you were a popper, a balloon hater, so how you can apretiate this piece of balloon art? And how comes you never seen my balloon art? I am not that good for you?

Hey now, popping doesn't mean you hate balloons! These will get popped eventually too, when they're too weak to display anymore. But there's lots of things to love about balloons, including their prettiness. ^_^

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't also secretly trying to show off my G3 collection, bit by bit.

That is one amazing balloon. I thought at first that it was a plate, but knowing it's a balloon, is all the more impressive and very creative!

Thanks. I'm still adjusting to not being able to erase very well, but it's easier than I thought and not nearly as hazardous as one might think!

:3 I certainly will. There's some of my practice doodles in my sketchbook if you're interested... though they're not nearly as polished, lol!
