Description Finally I get to draw on one with some good Helium in it. :3 Though I'm a little mad at the proportions on this one. I think I'm too used to drawing on bigger balloons.

It's a little tricky, but if I mess up on something too badly, I can dip a que-tip in rubbing alcohol and rub that bit out, then wipe of the excess. So far I've used alcohol on most of my balloons and they haven't lasted any less due to it--as you can see, this one is pretty well-filled (and very tight-skinned) and there haven't been any issues. The only problem with the alcohol is it won't get ALL the dye, so it's best if you're going to color over that area anyway. I was able to get away with it on some white area just because it was in yellow, though, so you can't tell very easily.

This is a new Perfect Products 17", first filling. It's considerably smaller than the recycled stuff we've been using! It was very nice to use one that stretched tight, it makes it much easier to control the tip of the marker. And I can't frown at a bit of neck. :3 Pictured is G1 Frilly Flower, because we have no flutters.

These make me sad, Jessie, but only because of their impermanence.

At least the photos last! We're a little upset this week though, because the roof of the apartment is getting a much, MUCH needed repair, and the tar seems to be screwing with our balloons. >.< Usually we can get a good 3 weeks of display out of one though. And the impermanence... well, it just means I have to do more, doesn't it? ^^

For me it looks very good job what you did, I cannot figure out how to "shade" my balloon art, but you do it in a subtle and beautiful way. Nice details the stars above the pony. And I also find this color of the balloon very beautiful, it is ivory pastel, isn't it? I like that color a lot, is not completely white, but clear enough to appretiate clearly the artwork.

I read you had this balloon very tight, remeber I told you in a previous message, it's not recommended to draw on the balloon too inflated, cause the latex rubber layer skin of the balloon becomes thinner, increasing the risk of an unexpected pop.

If you interested on getting bigger necks on your balloons, you may try this technique called "neck preinflation" here I got a couple of examples, first the neck preparation and then the balloon fully inflated with a big long neck [link] [link]

Very nice you have access to other brands of balloons, I feel stucked here in Colombia, having the only option of Sempertex, how I would like someone would send me some better quality balloons to draw on them, and maybe I can send that person some balloon art in return

Due to the way we recycle helium, it's not really doable to draw on the balloon partway inflated if I want it to float. Usually I do the broad colors around 70% and then inflate it fuller for the fine details. Here I had to go at 110%, but that allowed my markers to be extra precise and detailed because the latex doesn't deform when I press into the balloon. Fortunately, I've never had a balloon pop during drawing!

I've tried shading and mixing, but the best results have been to just use different colors to shade. This balloon has an interesting two-color shading effect, which is I believe what you're talking about. With Masquerade, I did yellow body and tangerine shadow. Here, I used a new secret weapon: Limited Edition Glam 80's colors! The subtle shading is a color called "Banana Clip Yellow" (the darker shading is still tangerine orange). The darker pink on the hair is "Jellie Pink". The limited colors sometimes do a nice job of filling in the gaps between the various standard shades. I've been keeping my eye out whenever we go to office supply and art stores (today I found the Carribean set's "Surf", still looking for "Flamingo"), and it's definitely worth it to pick up the limited colors. I now have 30 different sharpies. :3

Have you tried ordering balloons online? There's lots of specialty stores and even resellers that offer all kinds of brands and sizes.

I would like to order, but since I live in Colombia in South America the shipping is a little expensive, for a package of Tuftex 24"(x25) or 17"(x72) or Q24"(x25) the shipping is around USD $13-14, almost the same value as the package of Tuftex's!

Also I am a little short in money right now, I don't have a regular and permanent income, so I had to stop buying stuff about balloons (balloons or markets), so I haven't even bought more Sempertex 18" only 12"s to "promotion" myself (Those who i post in "Balloon Art For Sale") those are not intended for me to enjoy them, I put some personal data on them and then I give them away, and if someone is interested in what I do on the balloons, they may call me and possible commission me.
