Description Daughters of Glass - Key of light, Key of knowledge, key of valor. (Nora Roberts Novels.)
I was reading a series of books, and I got really hooked.
There's this whole tricky thing about gods and goddesses.
3 women have to each find a key to free a goddess who's soul got locked up.
Anyway, There's painting's in the book, not actual images but part of the story, explained in detail, who give clues to those 3 women, and portays those 3 goddesses.
After putting down the first book, I wanted to see if the author based it on an already existing painting, or if a painting had been made out of it. I found neither.
I don't consider myself MichelangeloΒ Β or Da Vinci talent, but I felt like giving it a shot
There's two more paintings in the books, and I'm pretty sure I'll make those too.

This painting is called "Daughters of Glass" in the books: Key of light, Key of knowledge, Key of Valor by Nora Roberts.

And this is the description of the painting, given in her book:

"The portait was of 3 women, young, beautiful, in flowing gowns of sapphire, of ruby, of emerald.
The one in blue, with golden curls rioting to her waist, sat on a bench that circled a pool. She held a small gold harp.
Seated on the silver tiles at her feet, the girl in red had a scroll and quill in her lap and her hand on her sister's knee.
Beside them, the girl in green stood, a chubby black puppy in the crook of her arm and a short silver sword at her hip. A heartbreak of flowers spilled around them. There were trees with jeweled fruit dripping from the branches, and in the cerulean sky both birds and fearies on the wing. A key, in the right corner of the sky. A second one on the branch of a tree, almost hidden by the leaves and fruit. And the third, just visible under the surface of the pool.
There's a shadow in the trees. In the form of a man. Just the hint of something dark watching them. A threat. The sisters are unaware of the threat.
They look forward, grouped together, the crown of their ranks glintin in the sunlight that washes this area of the foreground. There's a sense of companionship and affection between them.
Each wears and amulet, the same shape and size, with the jewel reflecting the color of their gown. They are a unit, yet individuals."

Written by Nora Roberts.

Absolutely brilliantly done! I love Nora Roberts, and the Key Trilogy is one of her best. The Three Sister trilogy is my favorite, did you read those?

Thank you! And yes, I have read the Three Sister! I love those books too I think my favorite... Well, I can't really choose between either two, but it would be Sign of Seven trilogy and the Circle Trilogy!

Wonderful art! Almost just as I pictured it....I'm missing two things in the picture though...where's the snake that was slithering it's way toward the edge of the pool and I can't find the key in the sky...I see the one in the tree and the one in the pool.....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ssst In reply to slsmi17 [2010-11-18 13:17:50 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

The third key can be found in the leaves that are attached to the bench the girls are sitting/standing by, on the right side That one represents this part: "A second one on the branch of a tree, almost hidden by the leaves and fruit."
And the one that is supposed to be in the sky is the one that is in the top left corner on the tree itself. Since there isn't all that much sky left, I placed it there

I based myself of the text/description in the book as best as possible, but it definitely isn't an exact copy of the description. And honestly, I think I must have forgotten the snake altogether. There were so many elements, I got a bit lost sometimes

I also read...well...listened to this series! I've recently fallen in love with Nora Robert's books! It's cool seeing someone's idea of what has been described (as I don't have a very image-driven mind)!

hmm
well first tell me which books of her's you've read but i think if your planning on doing it from the key series why dont you try doing the couples?
i love them they all have their unique story and personality
you could do when they first met or soemthing^^ this is me jsut talking cause i am such a romantic
or even you could do the scene when Malory is paining when she gets captured and tricks the bad guy though he is a cutie

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ssst In reply to imigin [2010-01-04 04:49:13 +0000 UTC]

the bad guy a cutie, that's cute!
hmm I dunno about more key series, maybe later..
I've almost read all of them actually ! I was thinking of doing some on "the sign" and "the circle" trilogy's.
Or ..argh I don't remember the title of those series..but Blue dahlia, Black rose and red lily?
OOOH the cheasepeake bay stories were AWESOME!! I'm so in love with seth!
But I also love the born in series...and the stories with the island of 3 with the witches...Ah gods, I can't pick their all good

As you can see I have a hard time deciding !! But I will indeed make more drawings inspired by her stories

imigin In reply to ssst [2010-01-05 01:22:47 +0000 UTC]

Kane XD you gotta love him
The sign includes blood brothers, the hollow and the pagan stone while the circle trilogy is Morgan’s cross, Dance of the Gods and Valley of Silence sorry I’m a lil obsessed
Oh the one your referring to is the "in Garden trilogy" I love that one, especially red lily
I love Seth!!!! omg he is the best thing ever!!!! after him I love both Ethan and cam and Phillip! That woman is amazing creating characters that are hard to get over
Oh!!! The born in trilogy! I’ve read born in fire but i don’t have the other two!!!!!!
I’m so disappointed!!!!
Oh your refereeing to the three sisters island trilogy, it was cause of Mia and her book and cafe shop that inspired me to want to open my own shop as soon as i get me degree in a few years!

try reading the Stalinaski Series, it is jsut amazing!!!

ssst In reply to imigin [2010-01-05 02:47:52 +0000 UTC]

Haha is fine! I get obsessed myself
I knew the titles, but it's just shorter to type out the trilogy title instead LOL!
Her books are amazing, I haven't read one book of hers that I didn't like..
I'll give the stalinaski series a shot for sure!
You should definitely get your hands on the rest of the born in trilogy, it was amazing
What other authors you enjoy?

I love your painting. Ive wanted to draw that picture as well, but didnt have the ability at the time. The only thing it seems you are missing is the two teachers. Other than that, its perfect!

ssst In reply to Lunaura [2009-09-12 20:50:28 +0000 UTC]

Yes I wanted to draw the teacher at first, but.. I really didn't know where to put them.
I Tried fitting them in behind Dana's goddess, but it just seemed to full.
So I just let it hang for a while. Right now my explanation would be;
They were so caught up in each other so it gave the dark god the chance to hurt the 3 sisters.
Which would explain their lack of appearance.
But I might add them later on

I'm glad you enjoy, Thanks
