- Happy 8-Day-Late Valentines Day!
And to all of those who are like me, Happy 8-Day-Late Single Awareness Day!!!
ANYWAY! I know the pose is really simple, but I was trying out a new style of soft-ish coloring and I really like it! I wish I could cell shade properly though.
Critique is much appreciated!
(I understand that I have lots I need to improve on, but I would like to know WHAT I should look at/do to improve)
If you could link me to some good cell shading tutorials (or tutorials in general on what I should improve on), I'll send you buckets of love~!

Anyway, I like how you incorporated the thread, and I think the shading turned out well, especially on the skin.
As for critiques, I'm generally really bad at giving them-- but I can say in the very least looking at some of your older pieces you've definitely been improving a lot, so you're going in the right direction at least so just berieve in yourself...?! /useless sobs

...like, seriously, i can't stop staring at it. i look at it for a while, go to another tab and do something for a bit, then come back and bask in the gloriousness of the colors and lines. XD
haha as a critique, the only thing i could really say is maybe the highlights on the hair? it looks like you used the dodge tool (idk if you actually did or not) but maybe just try to work on it so it doesn't get so desaturated? i really love the background though, i think the yellow goes great with it, and the little hearts look like cutouts which is adorable, and the red threads really bring the whole thing together. gahh >.<

The highlights? OAO I actually made a different layer and chose the 'luminosity' option because SAI doesn't have a dodge tool. XD But I'll definitely keep that in mind next time!!!!

XD well it is very very pretty, nonetheless.
oh, the luminosity option actually makes a lot more sense now that i look at it, and it really does have a nice glowing look to it, it just looks a bit more grey and desaturated compared to the purplish black of the hair

This looks so beautiful, oh man, the shading is wonderful! I really love how you've done her skin with both softer and harder brushes, you've pulled it off really well. Her eyes look great too and the orange hue highlight makes them stand out *u*
BUT HER HAIR AHHH /lovesforever it looks fantastic TEACH ME
The few lighter strands enhance the whole lot of it really well. I love how you've done her fringe and the darkly shaded part for her parting(?). The little roses break it up nicely too ;v;
I can't think of any crits for this one, but I do see improvement!
