Last year, at Yasumicon, I was picking up the second volume of the Bleach manga, which I had been starting to read. found this out and gave me almost a dozen volumes of the manga she didn't want anymore, as well as some manga volumes for . Ever since, I've been wanting to make her a gift art, and I've finally done it.

In the Bleach manga, Rukia is rather fond of reading a horror manga while in the human world. So I decided to draw Rukia reading some sort of manga! I was at first going to be having her read Bleach itself, perhaps with Renji and/or Ichigo on the cover, but since it was fairly small and her hand covered most of it up, I just went generic.

I didn't have much color references for Rukia, so I picked a random blue and white dress for her (I remember one in the Asterisk opening). Getting the folds right for her dress for how she's sitting was a challenge!
