Dr. Satek, Dr T'Nora, and Lieutenant Paige Garcia meet in one of the S.C.E. planetary labs at Delta Aquilae 2. The trio have been working together to find the cause of the environmental failure taking place on the planet. My OCs by www.deviantart.com/hoodman18 .

Drs. T'Nora and Satek, two of the Federation's foremost terraforming experts have been conducting readings and preforming experiments on the terraformed eco system trying to restore it. Lieutenant Garcia has worked with them for the two months that they've been at Delta Aquilae. She is the XO of the S.C.E. construction battalion that is assigned to terraform the planet and build structures and facilities for the Starfleet personnel assigned here.

Working with two Vulcans has been an eye opening, and difficult experience for Paige Garcia to say the least. She has found them to be very polite but often times condescending and aristocratic in temperament. They are so brilliant that they often explain things to Paige that she does not need explained. Often sounding to her like parents instructing a child. For Paige Garcia, a person who has two advanced degrees and used to being the smartest person in the room, to be spoken to like that is insulting. Not being known for holding her tongue, Paige has struggled with herself and the building desire to tell them off. But she knows that would only exacerbate the situation and she's under orders to work with them and be their liason with Starfleet. She has taken every opportunity to demonstrate her knowledge and skill to them and has had some success breaking through to them.

Over the last two weeks the Vulcans have been treating Lieutenant Garcia more like a colleague and she is beginning to warm up to them. They are beginning to jell into a team. Paige has noticed that Dr. Satek has taken an interest in her personally. He joins her for lunch, often questioning her on various non work related subjects. Some questions, personal in nature. She was surprised and caught off guard at first, by his interest. She was a bit defensive at first, not exactly sure how to take his inquisition, but after a day or so, she began to relax and open up. She is pleased that he is very open with her and answers her questions without hesitation. His openness impresses her and she becomes more comfortable with him. They soon find out that they have some things in common and actually share common interests. Paige begins to believe that Dr. Satek is actually attracted to her. She wonders if she could ever be attracted to a Vulcan.

Dr. T'Nora remains somewhat more formal and professional with Paige. The doctor is truly a remarkable person, brilliant, hard working, and energetic. She is soft spoken and at first a little condescending in tone. She is used to dealing with Vulcan scientists when working or teaching so she has preconceived notions when it comes to Starfleet officers. Dr. T'Nora thought that Starfleet officers lack the education and training to understand the intricacies of the science of advanced terraforming. However, after working with Lieutenant Garcia over the last two months, the doctor has had to change her opinion. She has found the lieutenant to be extremely knowledgeable and well read when it comes to the subject. She is also very observant and quick to comprehend when attempting to learn from the doctors. Dr. T'Nora also observed after a while that Lt. Garcia was taking offence to both of the doctors' 'attitudes'. Being half human herself, Dr. T'Nora is much more aware of human perceptions and feelings. She began to see signs that the lieutenant was beginning to resent how she and Dr. Satek would address her. For Dr. T'Nora, it has been many years since she has worked with humans this closely. And many more years since she has had to deal with human emotional perception. She has mastered her human emotions over her life, at first suppressing them, then at last learning to incorporate them into her being so that they no longer plague her. They enhance her now.

Dr. T'Nora apologised to Lt. Garcia one morning, explaining to her the fact that she was proceeding on false assumptions. She explained to Paige that she did not believe a Starfleet officer would be capable of comprehending the advanced science the doctors have devised. Dr. T'Nora had to admit she was wrong when it comes to Paige and asked her pardon. Since then, the work environment has improved for the human and Vulcans alike. Progress has definitely been made. This morning the trio meets to go over the days itinerary. The Vulcans arriving a few minutes early. Paige arrives on time reading her PADD as she walks..

"Good morning Lieutenant Garcia," Dr. T'Nora says, almost a pleasant tone in her voice. "Did you sleep well? "

Paige nods her head slightly as she walks over to the two doctors.

"Good morning Dr. T'Nora, Dr. Satek.." Paige replies warmly. "Yes, I slept very well when I did finally get to sleep. I was up late going over the last atmospheric readings and soil samples. Did you sleep well, ma'am?"

"Yes, I did, thank you lieutenant." T'Nora answers.

"As did I..." Satek says. "And good morning to you, lieutenant. What did learn from the readings and samples, if I may ask?"

Paige's eyes widen slightly as she flips through her PADD. She sighs slightly as the results come into view.

"Well, the atmospheric readings have definitely improved.." Paige reports " there has been a .05 percent increase in atmospheric moisture retention over night. The soil is showing some nutrient stability but I'm not sure if it's significant."

Paige hands the PADD to T'Nora who carefully reads over the data. She raises her right eyebrow slightly as she analyses the information. T'Nora hands the PADD to Satek as she walks over to a computer terminal. As Satek reads over Paige's data, T'Nora checks the readings on her computer and nods slightly. Satek hands the PADD back to Paige, an impressed expression on his face.

"Your readings are very precise, lieutenant." Satek says. "I am impressed."

Paige smiles slightly at his words. She knows that for a Vulcan, what Satek has just said was high praise.

"Thank you doctor!" Paige replies pleasantly.

"Yes, and they are exactly what I have been waiting to see." T'Nora says from her terminal. The scientist returns to the others with a rather satisfied expression on her face.

"It seems that the lieutenant has brought the final pieces of information needed for our terraforming puzzle." T'Nora declares. "Those modest readings you have taken are much more than you realise. I have cross checked them with my own calculations and I am almost certain that we have corrected the ecological degradation. The environment is stabilising, but we need to go out into the field and take more readings and gather more samples to be sure."

Paige smiles widely and claps her hand on her thigh happily.

"Yes! That's awesome news doctor!" Paige exclaims. "I'll get a hopper and we'll get started!"

Dr. Satek's gaze turns to his mother.

"Do you have a particular area you want to cover, mother?" He asks politely

T'Nora returns his gaze calmly.

"It will be necessary for us to cover a large area." She replies as she turns and walks to her desk. "This will take several hours so I suggest we bring provisions along with our equipment. It will likely be near dark or later when we return."

"Okay doctor, I'll bring some ration packs and water." Paige says.

She turns to Satek smiling and taps him on the arm playfully.

"Field trip doc!" She says before heading out to get the Starfleet items needed for their foray into the grasslands.
