Terran Imperial Marine Gunnery Sergeant Priscilla Alvarez rises to her feet, her uniform and tactical armor are covered in grime, scorched from the fires, mixed with blood and mud. Her entire body aches from the numerous bumps, bruises and sore muscles. Blood oozes from the dozens of cuts and scrapes she got during the long battle, perspiration has matted down a part of her flaming red hair and her gray eyes are bloodshot from lack of sleep and the smoke from the battlefield.

Alvarez shakes her head for a moment in an attempt to bring herself out of the daze that was brought on by the concussion effect of photon grenade explosions. She and her marines have attacked the enemy troops in a headlong, berserk charge that broke the flank of their lines, killing many of them. Tossing photon grenades as they charged, Alvarez and her troops wrecked havoc on the exhausted soldiers of the Assault Brigade Hoshi Sato as other Marine units attacked all along the front line, shattering the enemy formation in several areas causing catastrophic losses among them. For the first time in their glorious history, the troops of Assault Brigade Hoshi Sato broke and ran away, the survivors did, showing their backs to their enemies, an act that is considered cowardly and shameful by Terran warriors.

Other Marine units pursue the broken enemy soldiers while others take a few prisoners, mostly wounded troops who could not resist. Several marines immediately start executing their vanquished enemies by either shooting them or smashing their skulls with rifle butts or large stones. The Terran Imperial Marines are hot for blood and revenge for their fallen comrades, and no mercy is given. The screams of the victims begin to echo among the ruins of the ore processing plants and warehouses.

The scent of fires burning, blood and entrails, are thick in the atmosphere as an unexpected rain starts to fall. All around her Alvarez sees the grim aftermath of this long battle, ruined buildings, destroyed infrastructure, and thousands of dead bodies are strewn around, among the wreckage, in the sands of the desert, or on the crater scarred roads. Destroyed shuttles and transports from both sides litter the battlefield as does busted up mortars and heavy weapons. Among this devastation, the survivors stumble around, helping their wounded comrades or hunting the few enemy soldiers who continue to resist.

"Is it over Gunny?" A familiar voice asks. "Did we win?"

Alvarez turns and her eyes spot Corporal Xao walking slowly towards her, trailed by the remnants of her platoon. All of them, like their leader, are covered with dirt, blood and sweat. Each of them bleeding from wounds, some superficial, some more serious, but they are alive...

Alvarez nods her head as she runs her dirty fingers through her ragged locks. She is nearly overcome with joy at te sight of Xao and the others. They look like hell but they live... and she is proud of them. Out of the thirty-two marines of Delta Company that had followed her on that crazy charge, twelve marines remain, the seven from her own platoon miraculously are among them.

"I think so..." Alvarez says, her voice horse from shouting her battle-cry. "Looks like Valhalla will have to wait for us a little longer.."

She stares past the corporal at her pitiful command. All of them are nearly spent from exhaustion and barely able to stand. Xao hands Alvarez her rifle, now covered with mud, she had left it on the ground as she scrambled to her feet. In other times, that was an offense punishable by time in an agony booth, but now... after this hell... who cares.

"Thanks.." Alvarez says as she takes her rifle and starts wiping the mud off of it. "Have everyone check their weapons and equipment then start checking the stiffs.. make sure they are dead. Kill any enemy troops you find and help any of our wounded. Take the dog tags from our dead, we'll turn them over to headquarters later... hell, take the enemy dead's tags too... we gotta confirm our body count!"

Xao's eyes scan the ruins and the dead bodies strewn around. There are alot of bodies to count.

"Aye, aye Gunny.." Xao says as he motions to his platoon mates to gather around him.

At the same time Alvarez walks off heading towards the ruins several hundred yards to the south... towards the sector where the Raider Platoon had attacked... the center of the enemy's line..

"Gunny? Gunny.. where you goin'?" Xao asks, concern heavy in his voice.. as he watches her walk away.

"You have your orders Xao..." Alvarez shouts back. Her mind on Natasha.. "I have to find someone.. I'll be back when I'm done.."

Xao immediately knows who Gunny Alvarez is off to look for... and under his breath.. he wishes her luck. He then turns his attention back to the marines he now commands.. and to the tasks they have...

Alvarez walks at a good pace, her strength returns as her head clears... determination fills her stout heart as concern echoes in her mind.. she knows not what she'll find... but she will find Natasha.. dead or alive.. and she'll kill anyone who tries to stop her...

"Okay girl.. I'm on the way..."
