The way you treat the letters give a really pretty and original material effect. It really looks like pieces of wood. It's somewhere between typography and illustration. Well done !
I'm not a fan of the top one though, I think the bottom model is good enough, it doesn't need a texture add-on to look great.
I also have to say that the integration of northern folk symbols and shapes is also a success, it's hard to "brutalize" these patterns but you did it.
