Caelina
The hot reply Caelina expected to shoot back at Scaeden wasn't there. She should blame him for this, and tell him so with colorful swearing. That would be normal.
Thing is, it didn't seem to matter anymore. It was done, and there was nothing they could do about it. Arguing over who's fault it was wouldn't get them anywhere, and any retort died on her tongue. The jaguar rolled a shoulder in a shrug, immediately regretting the movement as it sparked up more pain, but there was nothing beyond a slight grimace on her face. "It happened, that's what matters." She finally replied, glumly, letting her gaze shift back out toward the bustling empire camp.
"It hasn't been long, though." Caelina blinked a moment after asking, narrowing her green eyes and breathing deeply through her nose. Was that..
It smelled of Hunters nearby. She wasn't smelling herself or Scaeden, no - she knew those scents well enough. She could see nobody from where she was, and her eyes lidded in confusion. Perhaps she was just getting confused with all the blood, dirt and knocked-around senses.
"Are you alright?"

Scaeden
Scaeden was startled that Caelina didn't reprimand him with some smart-assed lashes about the failure. Actually, he would have preferred if she did. Now, he awkwardly didn't know what to say. He was about to open his mouth and speak, but he noticed her sniffing the air curiously. He did the same. He smelled what he expected. Himself, Caelina, the muddled smells of Fire Empire cats. The Blacksmith's den. Herbs from the healer's den. He inhaled deeply, despite the fact it hurt his ribs, but this time he caught something else.
Lying under the other usual Empire scents was a familiar human-like smell. It was Bounty Hunters. A flash of panic swept through him. Did one of the other members of his group double back and try to save them after they were knocked out and get captured as well? No, they wouldn't do that. They were all badly hurt as well, and Thanatos would have wanted to get back to the city to report the failure. No, it was someone else...
Ignoring Caelina's question, he inched out of the den a little, just poking his head out enough to survey the area. There were cats everywhere, talking, milling about peacefully. The den where the scent was wafting from was to their right. Peering closer, he saw two bodies sitting in the dark den. Were they...?
"What the hell are they doing here?" he asked Caelina, nodding towards the den and slipping back inside theirs' so she could get a good look. "And aren't they apprentices?"

Juno
Juno pointed her nose upward, trying to catch the scent that Furie mentioned. Could there really be more Hunters here? Like...full grown ones?! Perhaps, if they were in the right mood, if there were really others here, they would be willing to help escape!
The new Hunter scent hit her nose, and it reminded her of home. There were others! The scent came from a little bit away from their own, and there was at least one of them, and he was staring back with sharp eyes, and he looked to be talking. There was at least two now, and the first had left the entrance so he could not be seen. Juno wondered if they would help the two apprentices escape.
"I wonder if they'll help us escape. That one kinda looked...grumpy. And I think there's two of them!" Juno said, now wondering what the other one looked like, and if they would ever really get the chance to talk.

Furie
Furie kept his gaze at the den when one of the hunters also peeped his head out. "Yeah Juno! Maybe they came to rescue us!" He said excitedly, "We weren't forgotten of after all!"
He looked harder to see that the Hunter seemed a bit grumpy, as Juno said. "Maybe he is just frustrated cause they had failed to rescue us and got captured themselves? I think they would've brought more hunters with them, maybe those cats escaped?" He suggested, "Maybe those cats are planning a rescue mission right now! This is glorious, Juno!" He was excited, though he kept his voice down so only Juno could hear.
He turned his head to the leader, the Empire seemed happy and not expecting much activity except for new members.
"And they probably won't even expect it." He thought to himself.
"Scae...Scaeden?"
mmm things hurt
the original (and very old, holy shit 2012) roleplay can be found here . Do people even remember how Scaeden and Caelina really bonded/got together? Or how they met Juno and Furie? heRE U CAN FIND OUT: Scaeden and Caelina were part of an unsuccessful mission to capture Valon by luring him into Fire Empire and attacking two Empires at once, and Scae and Cae ended up giving themselves over as hostages to Fire Empire. little did they know, two apprentices had attacked Fire Empire some time earlier in an attempt to catch Fire's healer, and they'd gotten captured.
years later, Juno happens to be the first one to stumble upon Scaeden's dead body.
rough times.
I was watching this video and got some sad EBC feels from the old ebc and i couldn't....NOT draw something ;n;
