Really?
So it was just the pattern of the Wall and that was it?

Funny you say that.
Cause that's how I was introduced to Pink Floyd was by watching the film "The Wall" and really I'm the only person that I know who understoood the film completely.

I have my own copy of it.
Though as much as I hate to say it, "The Wall" is like a music video, but not entirely.
You see music videos seem to be pure visual spectacles. Very rarely do music videos actually tell a story along with the music.
So in reality, The Wall is more like Fantasia, where the music along with the images on the screen tell the definate story of isolation.

Well thats the point. Yes, in a sense it IS alot like fantasia. But if you go on review sites, alot of people always say that the movie was void of any story whatsoever...which irritates me

Yup.
I remember reading a user review saying that it was "self-indulgent".
My point of view is that one shoudl think of themself because no one else will do it for them.

Yeah.
Then again, don't expect too much from ordinary people.

THough I have to say that there are some tracks within the Wall that I wish were on a more full albulm. Know what I mean?
Like "When the Tigers Broke Free" as well as "What shall we do now?"

I always preferred "What shall we do now?"
Mainly because I liked the surreal imagery in the film.

Well it was mainly imagery that is very symbolic, but I can't exactly go into full detail about it because it'd probably take up half a page.

Oh yes.
i loved that bit of how the bricks in the wall have different things in them, like stereos, cars, boats, and all that as a kind of symbolic visual of using material things to fill the empty spaces.

Yup, then again keep in mind this is a populace that loved Pearl Harbor and gave Ben Affleck an oscar, so its not too surprising that they overlook "The Wall"

And yet this movie won oscars.
My point is that you can't really go by the populace since they're mainly idiots in the first place.

Although it makes me wish that they made a movie like "The Wall", except do it for "Dark Side of the Moon".

Meh... Dark Side of the moon wast story oriented. It would be odd and the music would have little connection to the actual plot

StarDragon77 In reply to ranmagojira [2008-04-23 16:10:21 +0000 UTC]
Not really, all you have to do is think outside of the box, sort to speak. After all, the movie Highlander had music done by Queen to it.
So really if you think creatively, you can do the same thing for Dark Side of the Moon.
Such as, let's say the day in the life of an ordinary person who has extra ordinary dreams that turn into insanity.
You could have him waking up to the song, "Breathe, breathe in the air"
And as he's going through work you can imagine the song "Time" working with that, especially since it seems that in the work place everything is ruled by the clock.
And when he comes home to go to sleep he's on his way to "the Great Gig in the Sky".
Now this is just all off the top of my head.

ranmagojira In reply to StarDragon77 [2008-04-23 18:36:30 +0000 UTC]
Thats my point right there. If you have the songs connected to such inconsequential parts of the movie, itll just become what everyone says the wall is: a collection of music videos. In order to truly make a rock-based movie, you need the songs to have a meaningful connection to the most poweerful scenes of the movie. On top of that, none of the songs are actually connected by a particular theme, making it even less obvious of an album for a movie. Dont get me wrong, Dark Side of the Moon is a great album, but the movie would just be a waste of time unless youre a die-hard pf fan who would see it just because its pink floyd oriented. It would get the same criticism as the wall is getting, only worse, and it would most definitely deserve it because the placement just wouldnt seem right

Although if you do think about Dark Side of the Moon, there is an overall theme to it and yet there isn't.
Such as Time, Time is a theme throughout the albulm, such as how time is used to gain money, and time spent to get to the Great Gig in the Sky and so on.
Although in that argument of a collection of music videos, would you say the same applies to the film "The Yellow Submarine"?

Even though musicians try to be "actors" or vice versa.
See Avril Lavene (or however her name is spelled) and Hillary Duff.

I did say vice versa.
Or a better example is Britney Spears. Who was a singer and then tried acting in a horrid film.

I prefer...
When I was a child, I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain
You will not understand, this is not how I am
I have become.....comfortably numb.
