With the world premiere of Avatar: The Way Of Water last night and the general release next week and still having time off while I recover, I'm adding to the collection with a picture of Jake riding his Ikran.
Avatar has some really wonderful colour palettes in the world they've created so it's always fun to play around with the blues and greens for these projects.
Looking forward to seeing the new film but I'll probably wait for the superior director's cut dvd in a year's time. Hey, it's a James Cameron film, of course there'll be a director's cut
Done with polychromos pencils and built up in layers, utilising my pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 27 colours.
Jake's face was done with white, cobalt blue, light phthalo blue, sky blue, light blue, dark sepia, dark Naples ochre and cold grey 1.
His hair was done with white, black, cold grey 1 and cold grey 4.
His body was done with white, phthalo blue, light phthalo blue and warm grey 4.
His left arm and hand were done with white, phthalo blue, sky blue, light blue and warm grey 4.
His right arm was done with white, phthalo blue, light phthalo blue, sky blue, light blue and cold grey 4.
His left leg and foot were done with white, phthalo blue, light phthalo blue, sky blue, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
His right leg and foot were done with white, phthalo blue, light phthalo blue, sky blue, dark sepia, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5
His necklace was done with walnut brown and warm grey 4.
His arm and leg bands were done with white, light blue, earth green, chromium green opaque, Van Dyck brown and walnut brown.
His belt was done with white, cold grey 1, dark sepia, Van Dyck brown, walnut brown, raw umber, warm grey 3 and warm grey 4.
His tail was done with phthalo blue, sky blue and warm grey 4.
The Ikran's eye was done with white, dark sepia, dark Naples ochre and warm grey 4.
Its' mouth was done with white, dark sepia, warm grey 3 and warm grey 4.
Its' head was done with white, dark chrome yellow, phthalo blue, light phthalo blue, sky blue, light blue, cobalt green, blue violet, earth green, dark sepia, Venetian red, cadmium yellow lemon, cold grey 4, warm grey 3 and warm grey 5.
Its' neck was done with phthalo blue, light phthalo blue, sky blue, light blue, cobalt green, dark sepia, warm grey 1, warm grey 3, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
Its' body was done with phthalo blue, sky blue, cobalt green, true green, dark sepia and warm grey 3.
The left wing was done with phthalo blue, true green, earth green, dark sepia, Venetian red, cold grey 4 and warm grey 1.
The right wing was done with phthalo blue, light phthalo blue, cobalt green, dark sepia, cold grey 1 and warm grey 1.
The saddle was done with white, cream, dark sepia, Van Dyck brown, raw umber, dark Naples ochre, warm grey 1, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
The cloud was done with white.
Finally the sky was done with sky blue.
Completion time: 27 hours, 39 minutes
