Well, following an accident on the way home from work last week I'm spending time recuperating. No broken bones or damage to Tracks thankfully, but in-between sleeping I need something to occupy my time that I can do while feeling like an Autobot that's been put through a trash compactor.
Reading and writing are great but sometimes I need to just draw for the fun of it so time for another one for the 35th anniversary collection. Okay, I will say this is not one of my best but it's not my worst, either. It got a little painful after an hour or so, so I had to keep coming back to this but When my hands are working properly I'll probably try this one again.
One of my favourite scenes in the movie is the duel between Prime and Megatron.
"Prime!"
"One shall stand, one shall fall."
"Why throw away your life so recklessly?"
"That's a question you should ask yourself, Megatron!"
"No! I'll crush you with my bare hands!"
The whole thing was awesome that first time and I never thought they'd really kill so many in one film. Let's face it, Transformers: The Movie was a bloodbath.
So this time I went for the more 'comic book page' approach to capture the scene which was a nice change and a lot of fun to do.
Done with polychromos pencils and built up in layers, utilising my pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 24 colours.
Megatron in the top corner was done first. His head was done with white, black, deep scarlet red, cold grey 1, cold grey 2 and cold grey 4.
His body was done with  white, magenta, dark sepia, black, cold grey 1, cold grey 2 and cold grey 4.
His fusion cannon was done with black and cold grey 4.
His arm was done with  black, cold grey 1 and cold grey 4.
The background was done with white, light ultramarine, cobalt blue and dark indigo.
Prime in the opposite corner was done next and his head was done with cobalt blue-greenish, light phthalo blue, sky blue, black, warm grey 1, warm grey 3 and warm grey 4.
His body was done with white, lemon, cadmium orange, medium flesh, light ultramarine, sky blue, dark sepia, red-violet, deep red and cold grey 4.
The background was done with cobalt blue, sky blue, dark sepia, black and warm grey 4.
Then onto the fight picture with Megatron's head being done with white, black, deep scarlet red, warm grey 3, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
His body was done with white, black, warm grey 1, warm grey 3 and warm grey 4.
His arms were done with white, black, deep red, warm grey 1, warm grey 3, warm grey 4 and warm grey 6.
Prime's head was done with light ultramarine, cobalt blue-greenish, light phthalo blue, black, warm grey 1 and warm grey 4.
His body was done with light ultramarine, cobalt blue-greenish, black and deep red.
Finally the edging was done with black.
