One of the very best ship designs in the whole Sci-Fi world !

Yeah the Jovian Chronicles ships are some of the best I've seen in 'near future' actual make sense designs.

Ghostbird: Yes, they swivel. J.C which these are from use very newtonion based physics so while in cruise she has them deployed like that, however when in battle or the like the entire section is stopped from rotating, and the habitat region is swivelled into it's stowed position.. same when under thrust.

Those boxes in the rotor, do they swivel? As to allow gravity to be simulated by centripital force during cruise and thrust during acceleration?

That's pretty neat. First fictional spaceship I have seen that was drawn wih an understanding of physics behind it.

Excellent design, functional yet stylish. Reminds me a bit of the destroyers from Babylon 5, with their rotating mid sections.

The designs are all by Dream Pod 9 for the game Jovian Chronicles. They all exist within the game (DP9 also did Heavy Gear) where science is actually normal.. not some weird ass thing. So you are stuck using normal means of propulsion, normal grav etc.. yes it's increased fusion etc are common, but otherwise you have reaction mass etc and like always.. we humans have yet to get over our .... problems.

While some may think the runways are weird there not when you get to it either, they use magcats or magnetic catapults, which means you get thrust/speed for nothing when launching fighters, the same can be used for landing, reverse the field and you don't need to waste fuel (normally hydrogen or water) to slow down.

thanks for the comment though hehe.. didn't mean to ramble on just normally people pick on the runways
