Yeah the Jovian Chronicles ships are some of the best I've seen in 'near future' actual make sense designs.

Ghostbird: Yes, they swivel. J.C which these are from use very newtonion based physics so while in cruise she has them deployed like that, however when in battle or the like the entire section is stopped from rotating, and the habitat region is swivelled into it's stowed position.. same when under thrust.

Those boxes in the rotor, do they swivel? As to allow gravity to be simulated by centripital force during cruise and thrust during acceleration?

That's pretty neat. First fictional spaceship I have seen that was drawn wih an understanding of physics behind it.

Excellent design, functional yet stylish. Reminds me a bit of the destroyers from Babylon 5, with their rotating mid sections.
