Description
I took an AP Painting course last year, and one of our assignments was to make a species awareness piece. I chose to paint manatees, because they are my favorite animal and, unfortunately, on the vulnerable/ atrisk list according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Many are injured and killed by inattentive boaters each year, and many more are dying due to polluted water and decrease in available food due to global warming.
While not realistic, I'm content with how this piece turned out over all. It was a watercolor assignment, so I was able to improve upon techniques I haven't been able to use in a while. I like the bubbles the best, but my favorite manatee is probably the one in the top left.
