Description I'm a bit late, but better late than never
It's been quite the year for me honestly. Both art-wise, but mostly in my real life.
In the first few months of the year, I had a gap year, which meant that I had more time to draw, than I've had the last couple of years. With the huge amount of free time, I suddenly got in touch with my art-side a lot more.
This was also the year that I quit the plan of becoming and architecht, and ultimately also my "dream" of living as an artist (no worries, it was not that big of a dream). However, that meant a great deal to me.
I have had to find my personal style again, but most of all my drive to keep making art and my inspiration.
Also, quite sadly the last part of the year, I've had so little time for drawing (which is almost funny compared to how much time I had at the start of the year).

Nonetheless, I think I've improved a lot in some areas, and not quite much in other areas. The improvement I'm happiest about is the fact that my art has become more stylized. It's not that I didn't paint or draw well in the beginning of the year, but I've spent a lot of time practising how to speed up the pace of my drawings and not getting lost in details. I tried out a lot of different techniques, and I landed on not using any particular art style for any drawing - I am drawing for fun afterall, and there not in any need to keep up any particular style. The brings me a lot of joy and excitation when I draw.
I've also improved a lot in my sketching, but since I don't really show a lot of sketches, it's not something you'll be able to spot.

In the coming year, I'd like to practice drawing men and environments. That's always been something that has scared me. However, you won't get anywhere without practising, so that's what I hope to achieve.

It's great that you let go of style and just draw whatever you feel like! It really lets the creativity flow instead of being stuck in one place. I guess at some point it will naturally become more consistent. I'm looking forward to see you challenging yourself with environments since that is a thing that many artists leave out (from what I've noticed on dA)

Yeah, that's true, and a shame also. But environments are jsut so hard to draw (for me), and I've always found it to be a bit boring. That's why I'm always a bit reluctant to actually draw them.
On my previous account I posted the only environment drawing that I made, which I have ever liked. I know you don't get any better without practicing, but I always dislike my environment drawings so much.
I think I find them hard to draw, because I easily get lost in details. Also, unlike you, I'm not very good at just making the rough shapes look realistic. That's part of what I admire in your art
This is the drawing I mentioned. It's a bit old though - it would be fun to make a redraw ^^

Yes, drawing for fun and you don't enjoy backgrounds then I can understand that you prefer not to It really is a difficult thing to get good at since there's just so many different settings and materials to learn. And like you mentioned, it is easy to get distracted by details xD They key to making a good landscape/scenery painting is shapes. Having good shapes. And to get those shapes to look convincing, you need to practice a lot and observe nature or photos. Or at least that's what I do^^ Everyone learns differently. To avoid details too early in the process I keep the canvas zoomed out and work with big brushes.

That ocean painting looks very good *-* (That Lallo name again haha) You should definitely do a redraw!

Those are some good tips. And I agree. My few attempts at drawing landscapes have always begun with rough shapes
Perhaps I should practice drawing architechture. That's a fun way to learn to draw environments in my opinion

Architecture is my enemy haha O__O I think it sounds like a good idea if it's what you enjoy! One learns the most by doing what they like

You've grown so much last year, and it's been fantastic seeing the growth in each different piece! I can't wait to see what you'll be inspired to do this year... also I agree with men being scary to draw! I'm used to feminine and frilly! Just give them a beard
