Description Sweden's Christmas is ruined!!

In Sweden, we watch Donald Duck/Disney clips at Christmas eve. It's become a tradition and the show is almost always the most watched show of the year.

It's said that Finland once tried to ban Donald Duck because he doesn't wear any pants (actually, this is an urban myth; apparently, Finland had some economy crisis and the people were trying to cut off things from their budget. One of the things they thought they could afford to lose was airing Donald Duck on TV).

So, inspired by these two things, here's a quick Christmas comic...

The SuFin relationship just met its biggest obstacle.

There's no Christmas without Donald! You tell him, Sweden!

Donald Duck on Christmas? Wow, I could never imagine that... In Finland, We watch The Snowman every Christmas
Few years ago we almost banned or changed "The Moomins'" to be +18, because Moomin Pappa smokes.. I mean.. How?

Haha! Apparently, people in Denmark and Norway watch Donald Duck on Christmas as well! XDD

Really? That's... Super weird... O.o; Do you have problems with young people smoking in Finland? Maybe they were trying to keep kids away from smoking? XD;

Well I did read on the news that there will be some clipping in the Donald-Duck cartoon featuring Santa and his helpers, you know the doll part and they think it's racistic? I dunno but at least 95% of a straw-poll voted against it on that site (even though it didn't affect the main-idea in any way)

Poor Sweden, he could use a jolly good christmas-hug and some julmust, no?

StarlitHoliday In reply to Humblehistorian [2012-12-16 09:29:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh, is that so? Didn't know that! Thanks for informing me! Are they gonna cut the entire part with Santa and his helpers or jsut that particular scene?

Yes, he probably needs those. Poor Sweden.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Humblehistorian In reply to StarlitHoliday [2012-12-16 13:20:05 +0000 UTC]

I think it was just the aprticular scene as they thought it was offensive towards certain groups including the green, bearded guy hoarding animals as it seems to be offensive towards jews.

I hope Santa will be extra kind to him this year and give him a jolly good hug

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StarlitHoliday In reply to Humblehistorian [2012-12-19 01:17:56 +0000 UTC]

Ah, okay... I don't really get the part with the Jews, but maybe I don't know a lot about stereotypes or offensive stuff... XD; But at least, the rest of the clip will stay. Interesting to know, so thanks for the information!

Any random thing huh? Lemme see
Oh yeah!
Did you know that the Japanese voice-actor for Austria in Axis powers Hetalia is the same guy who does the voice for Link in Zelda: Twilight Princess and Skyward sword?

(Feel free to give me anything you have too I'm an all-eater! )

StarlitHoliday In reply to Humblehistorian [2012-12-26 23:52:04 +0000 UTC]

Haha! XD I actually meant in the future, not this instantly, but this works fine too. I did not know that though, so thanks! XD

And uhm... Right now, the most random thing I have in mind... Did you know that the voice you hear when you speak is actually not how you sound like to other people? When people hear your voice, you can say your voice goes straight into peoples' brains, with very little things that could alter the sound of it. But when you hear your own voice, the vibration from your vocal chords resonates in your body before your brain picks it up. You can say our body is like a resonance box, like an acoustic guitar's resonance box. When your voice is sent out as vibration from your vocal chords, your body resonates it and alters the sound of it. Other people cannot hear your voice like you do because this is something that happens inside your own body.

Ever heard your own voice in a recording machine or talked into a microphone? The machines are not messing up your voice. THAT'S how you really sound like and that's how everyone else think you sound like. XDD Don't worry, though. Everyone is much more familiar and used to your real voice than you are, so they don't think it's as weird as you think it is.

Humblehistorian In reply to StarlitHoliday [2012-12-28 22:29:50 +0000 UTC]

Wow I've actually been wondering about that one for a while, I could never imagine there being a logical explanation to that

Another fact: Did you know that despite the Germany soldier being depicted in many war-movies and very brutal and raging and that it might seem like a stereotypical and dumb way just to make them appear like the bad guys? Well there are actually facts saying that German soldiers were given Steroids before a battle in order to make them more fierce and so this might've been a type of "inspiration" for movie-makers and others alike considering the side-effects of for example the mood in general of someone who use steroids.

StarlitHoliday In reply to Humblehistorian [2012-12-30 06:31:33 +0000 UTC]

You're taking it well! XD Most people have a minor meltdown whenever they find out their real voices are the ones they hear when speaking from a mic... :>

Really? O.o; I don't watch many war movies, so I didn't even know that that was common. Didn't know about the steroids thing either! Thanks!
