Description
As Springtime slowly comes back after a long (not-so-cold) Winter, who wouldn't want to get outside and enjoy sunshine, warmth, and flowers blooming all around? I wanted to make a special adaptation of a song performed by Miku Hatsune , making use of a pun in its title, as well as setting it in one of my favorite places to visit. I have a lot of fond memories visiting ice cream shops with my family and friends, and I wanted to capture that sense of fond nostalgia while tying back into Spring coming.

I thought it would be really sweet to feature the PowerPuff Girls for this deviation. It's been a long time since I drew Blossom and Buttercup in the flower-themed dresses I made for them for Easter, and I wanted to bring them back, only now based off of the gorgeous and much cleaner designs made by HalcyonOnyx . I was a little bit hesitant about featuring Bubbles in the kimono I designed for her, but after looking online and seeing that there are cherry blossom festivals in Japan, I decided to go ahead. What they didn't know, however, is that my Dragonsona and Maestro Balan are enjoying themselves as well. In case you're curious about what kind of frozen treats they're having, Blossom has a strawberry milkshake, Bubbles has a blue soda float (inspired by the blue soda from Friendly's), Buttercup has a lime crushed ice drink, my Dragonsona has a shamrock shake with a shamrock cookie, and Balan has a black cherry yogurt smoothie.

After determining the characters and what kind of ice cream they have, the tricky part as creating the scenery. I was mainly thinking about an ice cream shop my brother and I visited for his birthday, as well as a beach-themed restaurant my sister and I visited in January for the colors and use of pale wood. A few online references helped out for the counter and table. Perfect coincidence or not, I happen to be posting this on Saint Patrick's Day, and I wanted to tie back into that holiday, along with other flowers that symbolize spring. That's what made me include the shamrock wall display above Balan and my Dragonsona, and that larger one on Buttercup's dress. I considered drawing a cherry blossom tree, but I was a little concerned about if it would be accurate and recognizable, so I went with a small magnolia tree instead. I have seen a few of those growing, including one in my garden, and I knew I wanted to include one. As for the cherry blossom, I kept it to the wall display to tie it back.

There are a few things in here I wish could have come out better, but I love the image overall. I know I had a lot of fun drawing out the individual frozen drinks. After all my hard work, I could use something cold and sweet as well.
