Another exciting winter morning at Grand Canyon!
This time under frigid, snowy and dreary skies.
While, on this morning, the magic of light did not shine on the scene, clouds swirling within the canyon - and a snow level all the way down to the Tonto Plateau - made for a dramatic, if not chilly, image.
I don’t feel much warmth here.
I probably remember this morning too well.

As with my previous submission, this image was taken from Mather Pt., Grand Canyon’s most visited viewpoint.
Here, the massive cliffs of the Redwall formation are clearly visible.
Generally located about midway in the canyon, they present a formidable challenge to hikers.
Below the Redwall, one feels there’s still a long way to the rim;
above the Redwall, one feels the rim beckon with each step.
Sharp eyes might be able to pick out a portion of the snow-covered South Kaibab Trail in the center-right of this picture.
