Clouds within the canyon are not uncommon.
The inner-canyon is like a desert.
Down below, temperatures are often on a par with Phoenix.
Snow on the rim means rain within.
When it's warm and wet below and a cold front hovers above, it compresses the warmer, wet atmosphere below into clouds.
There is, perhaps, no more exciting view of the canyon than when it cradles clouds within its walls.
O'Neill Butte along the South Kaibab Trail can be seen in the lower right quadrant.
