it starts out with.. A simple digger who has given up on life, then he becomes a leader of the land- Who do you think i am?!, to space ruler- My Drill will create the heavens!, to a simple digger- Who Do You Thi- Ah, i guess im nobody *chuckle*.

That was something I really liked about Simon, his evolution. In my opinion, Simon has one of the best character-developments in animation/anime

This is so cute!! Although Simon isn't my favorite character (a certain flamboyant mechanic holds that title~), this is too well thought out not to fave~! <3

@MadSUle5 Yeah Sorry to say but I agree that it was Simon....personally I'm not a fan of the way you just came in here "telling us" that it was Kamina simply based off your presumptions of the shape of his face....seems to me you would be best to simply announce that such things would be your "opinion" as your evidence is based of a subjective manner rather than that of an objective one.
Kamina died, his death paved the way for the stories "evolution" or "progression" as Simon states later near the end of the series that the lives of those past intertwine to become a double helix. With this taken into account, it would make no sense (even for gurren lagann) to have Kamina come back to life for any reason.
Also Simon explains that it is wrong for the dead to be revived because they would get in the way of the living, this also backs up the point made prior.
The one eye of the old man's being a spiral design would also be evidence of the extraordinary extents that Simon reached mastering the spiral energies throughout his life. Kamina was the first to tap into that power but Simon mastered it, you see this in the OVA's also when Simon is imprisoned and creating a drill made of pure energy in the palm of his hand, also in the final fight where he uses his blood to form a drill around his arm.
In regards to the similarities in appearances, you get to see the two adult heroes talking to each other towards the end of the series, one could easily understand how Simon could appear Kamina'ish given a few more years.
Oh and also....comon seriously.....Kamina is WAY to flamboyant to be "that quiet old man" for any reason...he's much more the kind of old man you would see still screaming atop a table of a retirement home pointing towards the heavens and mouthing off at the nurses trying to settle him down lolol. If that was Kamina teaching that kid he would have said something like " BAKA, you gotta put your heart into it! Your drill is your soul, Dont believe in me, believe in the me that believes in you!"

No, that was indeed Simon. Considering he left Kamina City after Nia dissolved and he become a wanderer. The child trying to open the fruit in the last scene made it clear that it was Simon (don't forget about how the drill was involved, and Simon was one of the best drillers there was). So, it was Simon, not Kamina. Not sure how you figured it was Kamina dear

the voice, shape of the face and the fact the simon could never actualy explain what he was doing when he was drilling.

I totally agree btw; I guess getting to see Simon growing up makes him seem more believable as a character. I was going to say something deep here but I decided not to, derp
