"I want you for a lifetime, so if you gonna think twice, baby,Β I don't wanna know baby, I don't wanna know..."Inspired by the theories that Xion is the newest member of the 13 Seekers of Darkness briefly glimpsed in the recent trailer, I decided to draw her in the midst of her transformation from Xion to Xion-Xehanort.
The title of the piece is significant. It's a quote from Xemnas in 358/2 Days that brings up some interesting implications. While in the game itself it can be taken as him stating that Xion is more "worthy" of bearing Sora's memories and abilities than Roxas, the use of the word "vessel" strikes me as important. After all, it was revealed later in Dream Drop Distance that Xehanort had planned to use Organization 13 as vessels in order to create the 13 Seekers of Darkness. Looking back, I can't help but be convinced that Xemnas had aimed to make Xion one of the 13 Darknesses in Roxas's stead, once he realised her potential.
That being said though...I'm like 85% sure that Xion isn't actually the mysterious person we saw in the trailer. I think it must be somebody else. While the hair looks like Xion's at first glance, it's too long on the sides and not thick enough at the back. If anything, the hair is closer to Aqua or even Vanitas. It doesn't mean that Xion won't be norted (though I'm praying it never happens), but I don't think the person in the trailer is her.Β
But anyways! This was still really fun to draw, and I really like how it came out!

Xion actually WAS one of the new 13!Β Thankfully it doesn't last and she comes back to the good side!Β I heard the new DLC will focus on that a bit more when it comes out so I'm looking forward to that!

The problem is that Xion is within Sora. Which means that she is trapped like Roxas. If she were to be Norted, Sora needs to find a way to get her out alongside Roxas, which sounds like it'll take place end Act 2 or mid Act 3. That is cutting it too close for Xehanort's MO.
More likely, she fell to Darkness as she returned to Sora. This can mean that her hair turned lighter, but she didn't get the eyes and ears for being Norted. I'm open to being wrong, I'm preparing for it; let's just hope for some good news.
Other options for that hairstyle... Closest I can think of are Namine and maybe Yuffie.

Yeah, like I said in the description, I don't think Xion's actually been norted, nor do I think the person in the trailer was Xion at all. The hair doesn't match up with hers, plus it'd be really odd for her to be norted considering she's been in Sora's heart all this time. I kinda just wanted to draw her like this for fun. I was thinking maybe that the mystery person could Vanitas (after all, we haven't seen him without his helmet in any of the trailers, so it's not inconceivable that his hair has turned silver), but this one post I saw on tumblr now has me convinced that the mystery person isn't even one of the 13 Seekers of Darkness after all, but actually Data Riku from Re:Coded:Β yume127.tumblr.com/post/178049β¦ .
I don't think Xion would get lighter hair by falling into darkness. That's been solely a nort feature so far in the series; if anything, she'd likely gain more Heartless-ish features or even be closer to her final form in Days, if I had to guess. But in any case, I'm still preparing myself in case Xion falls to darkness/gets norted, because it's the kind of heart-wrenching plot that Nomura would write to tug at our heartstrings lol.Β

It could possibly be Repliku as well, he did show up in a previous trailer anyway so he could've gotten a black coat. I had originally considered Data Riku but he doesn't really...talk so cocky? I mean the Riku in the trailer was talking about one-upping Sora, and Data Riku wasn't really like that. So could be Repliku. But might be clarified in the next trailer XD.

I'm leaning against Xion too. But the hair does match up the best among those I've double-checked, thanks to the Journals allowing us to rotate characters to view. Only 1 big (split) strand going down the left cheek in front of the ear, with more equally long strands behind the ear. mammothgamers.com/wp-content/u⦠But at least we agree to her being in Sora's Heart.

Journal Riku does seem like a good fit, especially since the Bug Blox are in the trailer. Repliku I'm leaning against, since his hair is wilder and thicker. However, comparing screenshots of Riku's hair on the left side (the Pirates trailer Repliku scene) doesn't align with strand length or shape.
"Lighter hair by falling into Darkness" was seen in Phantom Aqua. Sure, Aqua's not White. But how long has Aqua been down there? And don't "Heartless-ish features" include black limbs with a bit of red?
If the trailers are anything to go by, original men generally have thicker spikier strands, while original women have more numerous flatter ones with the ends having more individual strands (with Rapunzel being an obvious exception).
So looking at the "Xion" shot, my initial guess will be that it is Male. Rounded spiky hair with no fluttering ends.
