That 'blatant male-driven imagery' you mention had gotten me in a real hissy these past few weeks - I even blogged about it here. Pictures like that are everywhere, and it's not so exciting anymore. To me, Polly will always wear her full body Pizza Cat armour and will never catch a cold.

It's just that his love interest was known to everyone as Sweet Polly Purebred. They seem to have dropped the "Sweet" from the movie, tho, if the trailer is to be believed.
