thanks for the comment, it's hard to answer this question, exercise and study are the basis for learning anything and also for anatomy, try to learn from reality and from the great artists. I personally love both the ancient art and the artists of the past that I always have a great school for the study of anatomy. I love to study the true sculptors and their sculptures

I've always scribbled cartoons, particularly anthro animals - Typical cartoon stuff like ducks and Dogs and stuff - But I have never been good at people and would really like to be better
Most of the time, if I'm drawing a human figure, I use myself as a subject/template. It results in some weird photos on my phone and some strange looks (I look a bit crazy sitting there staring at my hand or my leg ) 
I'm not sure I'm very accurate in any sense of the word either
I might start looking to classical work and sculpture now though. Thanks very much

The photographs art and sculptures etc. serve certain but is also imported initially learn to structure and measures of the human figure, that if you are self taught him you can learn from anatomy books for example.
This is my opinion I do not want to teach anything on anyone but it is normal to make a figure you have to know also its proportions or measurements.
