Description --
Shaka seems to be a good example of a less often seen face of the regime's brutality. While many of our number comprise those whom the regime has harmed directly- those who have lost friends, family and freedoms- the life that was taken from Shaka by the fascists was in fact, his own. Some of the others don't trust him and for that I don't blame them; he made no secret about the innocent blood that he's shed. Maybe I should have had him shot? Maybe that's justice? No. That isn't our justice. He told us he's changed and that he wants to right his wrongs. Maybe he's lying, but if he is, then he's a damn good liar. Most liars won't look you in the eye- Shaka barely looked anywhere else. It actually became uncomfortable to look up into that thousand-yard stare. No, he's telling the truth. We're all victims of the regime, but he's just a victim of a different crime. A more subtle crime. I wonder how many more there are like him? Trapped in the gears of the regime machine, not knowing that another world could exist outside it?

Roberto and I are going to sit him down tomorrow and figure out where we can assign him and if he has any useful information. In the mean time, I'll send a few messages out and see if I can substantiate any of the events he described. If we can prove he's telling the truth about his recent past, then it will make his motives easier to believe...

Commander Pablo's Log regarding the defector, Shaka.

---

So here we have another of :iconIllogicallynx: rebel characters drawn for my comic, Shaka a black Jaguar however hasn't been used much but I hope to change that. Though I normally like spots on furs I found my attempt at it not very nice looking, sicne Shaka fur is so dark I say one can also choose to skip them if one want to.
Other drawings and resources about Shaka: Β  Some more musings on ShakaShaka came to the rebels from an unusual demographic: a defector from one of the fascist regime's own special forces units. A street orphan from before he can remember, the regime took him in and groomed him to be a killer from a young age, beating out emotion and feeling and replacing it with discipline and obedience.
After his defection to the rebels, Shaka remains in a badly damaged emotional state. To his new comrades he comes across as quiet, cold and stern but as the saying goes, still waters run deep. Shaka is intelligent enough to know that he doesn't fit with the others and externally, he maintains his distance from others, terrified that his own social awkwardness might ruin the first chances at real friendships that he's ever had. Deep down, this fear fans the fires of a deep and primal protectiveness of his new friends.
A few months after joining the rebels a botched retreat from a regime ambush left one rebel badly wounded and surrounded. Snarling with a fury the likes the Shaka's Backstory
Shaka grew up on the streets of a large metropolis under the care of his older brother, never knowing his parents or even his family name. The pair stole food to survive and looked after one another, but when Shaka was seven, his brother was shot down for no reason by a primal gang member who simply hated the mammalians.
Taken in by an orphanage, Shaka was a quiet and antisocial child who never quite gelled with the other children and was never adopted by prospective foster parents visiting. He was academically unremarkable and seemed to pay little attention in any classes except technology subjects like woodwork and electronics at which he displayed a natural talent. Faced with becoming homeless again at 16, he enrolled himself in the military.
Military life suited Shaka right down to the ground. Everything was regimented and any situation could be solved by referring to the correct protocols. Given clear instructions, he quickly rose to any standard he was set and was directed deeper

Never had an easy day? Quite the exaggeration there. Statistically, that's improbable!

A fire arm that's whisper quiet? That sounds like quite the technological advancement!

Glad he realised what he became sooner or later.

Also, what is he doing to that red fella ?!?!

Hyperbole
noun, Rhetoric.

A hyperbole is a literary device wherein the author uses specific words and phrases that exaggerate and overemphasize the basic crux of the statement in order to produce a grander, more noticeable effect. The purpose of hyperbole is to create a larger-than-life effect and overly stress a specific point. Such sentences usually convey an action or sentiment that is generally not practically/ realistically possible or plausible but helps emphasize an emotion.

Don't take up writing fiction.

Awesome!
Thank you so, so much for putting this together! You've done a wonderful job of it and I love the various poses you've chosen. I love seeing my characters drawn by other people, because it feeds back into my own understanding of them. The Judo poses are both great, the sense of movement and balance in both is perfect. You could almost pinpoint where the centre of gravity in both of them are and it's right where it should be!

How did you like doing the one with Stein and Shaka watching the explosion? Strong, directional lighting like fire is one of the things I like to paint the most and you've done an excellent job of it. I don't recall seeing you do much of it in the past, but I'd totally recommend trying more of it!

As I've mentioned, you got it just right with the fonts and style you've used for the text, really suits the 80s-90s theme.

Anyhow, thanks again for sorting this out for me! It's been good fun chatting while you've been putting this together and the finished result is excellent! I've been slowly working away on Juggernaut Vlad, hopefully I can get that done shortly, since I totally owe you for this!

That's quite an awesome backstory for him, I have characters in my stories that are like that. Β Trying to make right for their wrongs, but others don't trust them.
