Traditional pieces are pretty rare for me- this is a big scratchboard I did that was inspired by Gasworks Park here in Seattle. Β It's pretty haphazard as far as scratchboard goes, but I like the process a lot.Related content

The depth and volume of that smoke (gas) is just amazing - something about the way you've done it with the scratchboard just makes it billow... and the buildings rising up through the smoke, mysterious, magical...
This just gets me. I feel like I could stare at it for hours! Fantastic work

I'm usually not a very "detail oriented" artist, I tend to go for dramatic colors and gestures instead, but there's something about scratchboard work that just demands close attention to every single mark. Β I really enjoyed this one even though it took me a long time, and I'm really really glad the intended billow-y magical effect shines through.
