I love the playfulness and the cartoony style and tone and feel of Mal and Chad. But I'm really digging seeing how you draw pretty girls here on dA, too. XD
I love seeing some of the hallmarks of your style, the slick, lively lineart, the fun and emotive way you draw faces, and so on in these pics, on these more detailed (or rather, with the detail and attention focused in a different way) drawings than the cartoony kids in Mal and Chad. It's fun to see that you can also pull of this kind of different subject matter just as masterfully as the different art in Mal and Chad.
I think she looks awesome! Her expression is so fun -- nothin' better than a tough, pretty girl with a gun making a silly face. I like how the lines in her hair and on the folds of her shirt, and then on her boots and even like the lines of her arms all have tons of energy, and they all give you a sense of the different textures of those different elements. The hair has this soft feel, the shirt folds and fits to her form in a realistic way, and her boots have this heavier feel that lets us know it's leather, different from the fabric of the shirt and all of the other textures.
I love how whether it's Mal and Chad or more meticulously rendered pics like this that your style shines through, in the lineart and in the lively, animated expressions.
I'm looking forward to seeing more art from you -- and for the next Mal and Chad! : )

I'm glad you like Mal and Chad! The next book comes out in January, and will have a more refined style than the first book-- the style will be a little more like this picture here. Still the same characters, but I'm going for a more Jeff Smith quality linework.

Yes, I can't wait for January, then. I loved reading the webcomic, and I really enjoyed the first graphic novel (apart from the printed ink kinda bleeding onto my fingers a bit o__O ). I'm excited to see how the the more refined style turns out. : )
