Description Let me ask you a question. Why did humans, small, squishy, weak and vulnerable humans go from pretty simple guns, swords and melee warfare to building huge warships, metal machines that shoot fireballs and machines capable of flying that could level entire cities? Swords and Muskets took down a human just as good as blowing them up, so why do we need tanks and airships? It's because the World War you thought you new wasn't the whole story. Long ago, two species, not one, ruled over Earth. The first was humans. The second one, was monsters. Now when I say monster, I am not talking about Godzilla or anything like that. These monsters had the same intelligence as humans and were usually the same size, though some were bigger and some were smaller. Unlike humans, monsters were incredibly diverse. Some were humanoid with animal features while others more resembled plants and even just blobs of slime. Some were even comprised of pure elements but still retained the human form. Despite our differences, the two races ruled over the Earth side by side. However, in 1914, a war erupted that would change the world forever. Humans gave it many names. The Great War, The War to end all Wars and most the most popular, World War 1. But do you know what it's first name was? The War of Humans and Monsters. Humans and Monsters both shared something special that the humans sacrificed to bring the monsters to the ground. Magic. Humans had physical forms and could use magic almost unlimited, but Monster's bodies were comprised almost entirely of magic. They had to use up almost all of their magic to keep their bodies together. They feared humans magical capabilities but the humans never attacked the monsters unless provoked, and this was very, very rare. Until the war broke out. Though humans were stronger by nature, monsters could do one thing to make them more powerful than any human. If a monster was to absorb a human soul, they would become unstoppable. This only happened once in human history but it was to save, not kill. Even so, humans feared this incredible power and that fear turned to violence in 1914. The western human powers formed an alliance known as the Allies in hopes of wiping out all the monsters on Earth. However, the Central Powers of Europe, as they would come to call themselves, stood by the monsters in their darkest hours and swore to defend to the death. With both Human and Monster using their powers against a common enemy, the managed to hold of the Allies genocidal plans, but only for a little while. The Allies banned magic and soon began creating machines for war. Tanks, Dreadnoughts and Zeppelins, these soulless creations could tear through both human and monster with ease. They protected the Allies from the Central Power's Magical attacks. In retaliation, the central power created poison gas and portable flamethrowers that could turn the weak monster body into a force just as sturdy as a human's. The war lasted 4 years and in the end, the Central Powers surrendered. Though the Allies had planned a mas genocide of the Monsters, Germany pleaded for them with all their hopes and dreams. In a lost translation of the Treaty of Versailles, it tells that the Germans willingly took all the blame and responsibility for the war and in return, the United States took the remaining monsters and sealed them all underground beneath Mount Ebott. That was the reason World War 1 was so destructive. It wasn't about ideology, land or resources. It was about freedom.
