Description (WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILERS)

So the two kids on the left are known as Apple Kid and Orange Kid. They are two inventors from the snes video game Earthbound. On the right we have the well known skeleton brothers sans and Papyrus. What does this have to do with anything? Well, I believe I may have found out who sans and Papyrus really are. Now I know Game Theory did a video saying sans was Ness and Papyrus was a Starman, but after getting to know the skeleton brothers, I can safely say they are not. But I did find some evidence that these are they're real identities. In Earthbound, Apple kid is a socially awkward loner, a bit short for his age, somewhat lazy and likes to crack an ocasional joke but is incredibly intelligent and builds useful inventions for Ness and his team. Orange Kid is an egotist, somewhat tall for his age, socially popular but a lousy inventor. He only really does one thing throughout the whole game and the one thing he does is worthless (He builds a glorified music box that breaks after one use) and after that he just sits in his house. So how could these two kids possibly be sans and Papyrus? Well first, look at them. Apple Kid is short, a bit plump and his mouth shares the same dimples as sans. Orange Kid is tall(ish) and smile. Even his collar reminds me of Papyrus' cape. And look at their personalities. Apple Kid is lazy and cracks jokes. He wasn't all that popular with humans because of his looks and personality so monsters found his him charming. Lets also not forget that people say sans used to be a scientist and Apple Kid helped as an inventor and became the apprentice of Dr. Andonuts in Earthbound. Orange Kid also shares similarities to Papyrus. He's a bit of an egotist and unlike on the surface when he was really popular, underground he is a social outcast because of his egotism. Also like in Earthbound, his role in the story is less then that of his brother, not to say Papyrus isn't important, he really is and I really like him, It's just sans is a bit more of a prominent figure throughout the story like Apple Kid in Earthbound.  This would also explain the pictures, the badge and the blue prints. At the end of Earthbound, the "Fuzzy Pickles" cameraman snaps a photo of everyone in Saturn Valley and Apple Kid probably cropped himself in the photo as sans so he would not forget his past life. What about the badge? Well either after the events of Earthbound Ness gave him the badge or he found another one because as Earthbound Zero/Mother 1 confirmed, there is more than one Franklin Badge. And remember the Mr. Saturns? This is one thing I agree with Game Theory. I believe the blue prints were written by the Mr. Saturns because of their odd form of writing. And the machine I think might not be the Phase Distorter itself, but a replica in an attempt to return home that caused a horrible accident that caused Dr. W.D. Gaster to be scattered across space and time, because that's exactly what the Phase Distorter does, it sends people across space and time. Honestly, everything is in place except for two things, one I can answer but two I have no definitive answer. Were Apple Kid and Orange Kid brothers? Yes or no, being the only two skeletons in the underground and being former humans who have lived next to each other before, I would say they would have developed a brotherly bond at the very least. But the other question is how they got to the underground in the first place. The answer I cannot really say with certainty. My best guess is after the events of Earthbound with Apple Kid working with Dr. Andonuts and the Mr. Saturns on the Phase Distorter, Orange Kid got jealous because Apple Kid helped saved the world and stole his fame, attempted to hijack the Phase Distorter, Apple Kid attempted to wrestle him away and both ended up using the Phase Distorter and became skeletons. How did the Phase Distorter turn them to skeletons? The fatal flaw of the Phase Distorter is that it cannot send organic matter through space and time. Ness and his friends had to put their souls into robot bodies to use it. Using organic matter would more than likely strip away flesh. The last part of the story involves Dr. W.D. Gaster which is even more theoretical then the last assumptions. My thought is that he revived the two humans, one with determination, Apple Kid aka sans, so he retained his memory, and the other with magic, Orange Kid aka Papyrus, who lost his memory. Retaining his knowledge, Apple Kid makes a deal and works with Dr. Gaster to build a new Phase Distorter in hopes that he could get home and the monsters could be free because monsters do not have physical forms (If you don't know what I mean, in Undertale it explains that Monster's bodies are made entirely of magic). But something goes wrong and Gaster is scattered across space and time after falling into the Phase Distorter copy. Feeling both guilty and a failure, Apple Kid changes his name to sans, builds a strong bond with Orange Kid, now under the name Papyrus, and becomes the militia of the town of Snowden.

Well, that's my theory on who sans and Papyrus really are. Unless Toby Fox confirms this to be true or not, this is what I will continue to believe. What do you think of my theory and let me know if you have any other ideas because I have seen other pretty cool ideas and theories.
