Description Over this past weekend, I had an idea to reconstruct a Triceratops with facial markings resembling those of a toucan. This fits in with the idea that Triceratops may have had bold facial markings to help it intimidate predators or rival members of its own species.

Using a toucan photo as a reference and color source, I basically painted over a photo of Triceratops skull to ensure that I got the proportions right. (That was a horrible cheat, but I was more interested in experimenting with the colors than learning the correct facial proportions of a Triceratops. I hope a little of the latter seeped through in the process, anyway.)

Eventually I got it to the point where I was happy to give up messing with it. It certainly has some rough spots, but overall it came out better than I expected.

This is beautiful! :0 The colors are so bold and unmistakable, and I love the addition of the spiny dewlap. Great work!

Thank you!

I like your gallery. Some really nice color work there too. I especially like your Yi Qi (great pose), the Tsintaosaurus and the ... the Chinese tyrannosaur (?) with the name I'll never learn how to spell.
