Depending what school requirements are for laptop parameters, there's some reasonably priced laptops for less than a $1000.00 with decent hardware packed in side. HP and Acer have some of the best ones out there that Ive seen.

Acer I dislike VERY much; their laptops irritate me for some reason. Selling basic laptops for 399.99 scares me. I could never buy one with that small of specs. As for HPs...I LOVE THEM. With a passion. They have a 500 gb and 4gb ram laptop which I'm looking into for exactly a thousand. That's the cheapest I've seen.

Acers aren't bad for the money and the get the job done, I use an HP myself and simply love it.

I've got an HP Pavilion with Intel Core 2 Quad Processor...with 600 something gb and 4 gb ram as a desktop. Cost us 700 because we got like the model they were showing a Circuit City and it was discontinued. I shall never go to any other type again. For some reason, I hate Dells. I've had such bad experiences with them and their processors. -___-'
Have you ever heard of the Turion processor?

Well turns out my laptop has a Turion processor, but it fine for my needs since I use the laptop for school.

That's interesting. Does it work alright for you, meaning, like runs Photoshop okay? My professor has complained about it's lack of speed during 3D animation and Photoshopping(something I do alot of but never get any time to put it on here; maybe I should get of my butt and do it one of these days; I use UV Mappers, Roadkill, Alice 2.0, Poser, Daz 3D; all the good stuff) and all the laptops I've seen that have had Turion processors that had the specs I'm looking for are actually less than 1000. I've been told by other digital art professors as well that the Turion processor isn't a good one for digital media...
I am so confused. -___-'

I don't have PS on my laptop, but I do have Artrage 2.5 and Gimp and it runs just fine.

It's what I'm learning to color on. [link]
I've seen some lovely work done with it and figured I'd give it a shot when I came across it at the local Electronics hardware store.

Yeah, even Paint.net uses wacom, so it should be wacom tablet compatible. Anyways, thanks for the info, and good luck on future artwork! ^^
