Description This is one of may favourite photos from my trip to Tasmania

This little guy here is an Echidna (or Spiny Anteater) and would you believe I spotted him just outside the balcony of our cabin in the mountains just going about his business

Again, I took this photo in December 2009.

Now I'm not going to pretend I am some sort of professional photographer but if I'm taking a photo I try and at least do it right

Haha, I'd agree with you on that. I still think the Platypus is king in that category... is it a duck, is is a beaver, is it a possum... who the hell knows. lol.

Well it wasn't my cabin... I rented it out for the holiday. But still it was a beautiful spot

I was up on a balcony when I saw him, when I did try and get outside to get another shot he had wandered off.

I think in moder times the one who sees the echidna could be his modern echivalent.

Ohhh, they are completely harmless, they're very shy.

If you hugged one you'd at least need some tweezers to get the spikes out
