I've read loads of romance novels.
They're all the same.
Hot guy, hot girl.
She starts out hating him.
He has a deep dark past.
They get over it.
bangbangbang

more bangbangbang
marriage
sometimes, pregnancy.
Not to mention they are both extremely good together.

it has /nothing/ to do with skill and everything to do with writing within your experience and knowledge.

That one I, also, disagree with. Some of the most famous romance writers never got married/ had sex/ had a partner. I mean, J.K.Rowling never had an owl as a pet or had her life put in mortal peril, but she does a decent job writing about those things, yeah? Imagination and research go a long way. Now, if you're lack both of those things, thats a whole other story.

I'm okay with them writing it, just as long as they do the research first D:

I couldn't agree more! There's a reason why I nearly only write lesbian romance (unless it is for a request, and even then I will not do male/male or male/female smut)...it's what I can write convincingly while not making the character act like morons!
Great stamp, and very true.

there is only ONE good rape fic. and its a deathnote one. Bloody Kisses, Strawberry Smiles. lots of emotion too. well. more than lots. it was great. and the rapey bits were painful. but still amazingly attention grabbing.
all other badly written things make me wanna shoot myself. but then sometimes that VERY SAME writer come out a month later with ABSOLUTE GOLD. its rare. but i love it.

UGH, I HATE poorly written Yaoi!
ESPECIALLY when it's written by a fifteen year old girl who has NO EARTHLY IDEA how male anatomy works.
I was talking with a friend a couple of days ago at how Yaoi writers make sex between two men sound SO painful.
It's like they have "OMG TEH GHEY BUTTSHECKS" on the brain, and they don't care about facts they just want to write about two men having rough sex.
Oh god, I wish I could unsee some of the stuff that I've read.
Mary sues..... Do I even need to go into detail about Mary frigging Sues?
I think it's better if I just stop here before I have an epic-level facedesk moment.

It's safe to say that anyone who's had sex realizes it isn't all clean sunshine and daisies. Everyone who knows has at least experienced the flopping wet spaghetti person that jiggles on top of them thinking they own the world and are the best at everything. This stamp needs to be put everywhere XD.

Once I figured out what you meant, this was cool. The capital Y in You will never have was misleading; I thought it was a new sentence.
P.S. Funky colours!

Agreed. I write my own smut sometimes, but I always make it as emotional as possible. I hate bad smut, it pisses me off. I adre romance, but ooc cannons=EW. and agreed, Marysues=EW D<

Down with bad smut!
And they need to learn to freaking write! Honestly, if you care enough to post it, care enough to spell check at the very least.
I'm just getting annoyed with the copious amount of Stockholm syndrome going on. Rape is not that sexy kids.
Blah, I'm ranting at the choir, sorry.

We'd hate to see some Mr. Garrisons in training (remember that South Park ep where he writes his novel?), and find out that the true ppl who have sex find out that their writing isn't as smutty as the experience they've had.
LAWLS on May Sues=ew, that was the icing that laces the pornography cake.

BTW, what's the surgery part for in the stamp? Seems kinda irrelevant if you're talking about writing/glorying/drawing sex. :/ Why surgery?

Unless it's transgender-related, it doesn't seem to apply to the stamp if the point is people writing about sex (actual intercourse) that they never had.:/

that they will /never/ have. in other words--sex that their anatomy physically prevents them from experiencing.

Schreibaby-Zephyr In reply to StJoan [2008-10-14 19:59:29 +0000 UTC]
Okay, never mind then. Don't waste your breath if you don't wanna. I was only trying to see how surgery applies to making people interested in sex.

StJoan In reply to Schreibaby-Zephyr [2008-10-14 22:57:15 +0000 UTC]
it's not about interest but physical capability.

Ever seen or heard of Kino's Journey? There's an ep where kids at the age of 12 have to have surgery in order to be biologically and sexually capable. [link]

This should go for everyone. I've read lesbian fiction written by 30 year old men that obviously have never had sex in their lives and it is disturbing and funny to read at time. It is the reason I steer clear of most online fiction and stick to reading novels from the library, not as likely I'll stumble across poorly done stories that way.
