This unedited photo is one of my favorite animal shots and it is definitely worth a full view. Even with the almost backlighting of the sun, there is quite a bit of detail in the photo. If you look carefully, you can see 3 spider monkeys.

I love these little sweethearts. This large one here up on top went every few minutes to check on the little ones taking a nap in the sunshine. It seemed to be concerned that they weren't napping down in the shade like the rest of the family. It was only about 89 or 90 degrees but the Texas sun was quite piercing even then.

Their enclosure is fairly impressive given the size of it, and the size/budget of the zoo. They all seem deleriously happy and have quite a lot of fun. They are very aware of the visitors of the zoo and make faces at adoring children frequently. If you watch carefully you'll find one waving at a child every so often. I think it is the elder ones that wave because, they are the largest and I do know that a few years ago they sold peanuts or something that you could 'feed' them with. Watching the people respond to them is almost as fun as watching the monkeys themselves.
