This picture has really tragic background. I was trying my new GIMP for the first time, finished this and oooh it looked good - then I screwed up the jpg saving settings and it was saved with 16 colors. And real men don't back up their stuff! So after thinking of many acts involving lots of physical violence and ugly Finnish swear words, I managed to find a version from my hard disk that was, well, partly painted (her dress and hair). I opened PSP and finished this with lots of grring. Happy ending, I guess...Yeah. Melpomine was one of the nine muses in ancient Greek mythology. She was the muse of tragedy and the sad masks are her symbols. I might try to illustrate the rest eight later.

It's gorgeous, as always. I absolutely love her eyes, and the masks. Colours are gorgeous, completely compliment each other.

It's beautiful, tragic, and appealing. I don't love it as much as some of your other pieces, but this one is still quite amazing.

start with some kind of hand drawn sketch? or do you create
all of it digitally?
it's just really excellant linework. it always is though.
