Description After making a portrait of Delirium of the Sandman, I got few suggestions to illustrate the big brother, Dream. So here he is, Dream of the Endless from Neil Gaiman's comic series, the Sandman. I wanted to make him look dream-like, because, uh, he is the Lord Shaper, Morpheus, the Dream. And also do pay attention that I gave him his raven, Matthew. I think Matthew is the best name for a raven ever, and Matthew is really cool bird.

Def. inspiration from Yoshitaka Amano's art, especially of course from The Dream Hunters, the book he illustrated and Neil Gaiman wrote. Is good. Very good.

Thanks to photobreed for some textures, and I also used some PS brushes by Enayla .

Done entirely with Photoshop and wacom tablet. Painter died, so I use Photoshop now.

Bwah! This is so grossly awsome that I think I'll put it in my favorites! *.*
I love his hair in this picture, and his expression. ^.^ Dream was always my favorite from that series. ~bit of a drool~

Ahem. Anyway, yus. I'm so glad you put Matthew in here, too. He's such a contrast to Dream that they make the perfect...hmm. Not couple really, eh? ^^; The perfect...friends? I guess.
Me and my lovely lack of special words. ~~;
But as I was saying, it's good that Matthews's in there. He and Dream compliment each other wonderfully. ^^

*FAVOURITES IT IN ALL OF IT'S SANDMAN GLORYYYYYYYY* This is a beautiful rendition of The Lord Shaper and of Matthew. I love both of those character so much! I like Dream's expression in this piece, he looks so solemn and contemplative(doesn't he always?) and the colours are just amazing. You can actually feel the textures just by looking at this and detail....

You're right. Amano's work with Gaiman in Dream Hunters was great. You captured that soft, muted ethereal feeling very well in this. It's that otherworldly lord drifting alone thing that I just really like and your own style still shows through even if you tried different methods with it. Very beautiful result, I must say. Must fave.

this is beautiful.
i love it even more than the 'delirium'. i promise.
i really don't know quite how to 'grovel' at your
feet over this one. i love the way it's almost like
an 'impression',...much like a dream,...or much
like the way a dream is born.
an impression one subconsciencely embraces till sleep,...
it slips in and out of focus,...
in and out of your dream state,...
you think you 'see' colors,...but they are only impressions themselves,...
not even 'aftertastes',...
you can only imagine if they were there or not.
like so many things in life once it's over,...
once you've taken that step forward,...
you look behind you,...
and what have you left?
an 'impression'.
and even that.
fades with time.

hmmmm.
now i'm feeling meloncholy.
