On the surface? Not very. Most arthropodeans live underground in either feudal matriarchal monarchies or hive-mind communes.
The ones that do live on the surface usually stick to rural areas, so the fact that she lives in the city makes her even more of an oddity.

Oh, that's so cool! I especially like the saucer-holder that the pigeon stock broker has, that's a pretty nifty idea for bird-people without resorting to feather fingers like a lot of stories do.
