Description deviantART has no quality standards.

Which means not only can you post your crappy MySpace photos as "art"...

But you can post your crappy drawings... and get real critique and improve.

That's what so many others have done. You can learn to draw by yourself if you just put in the effort.

Are you against tracing? So are we. Join the club and support the cause!

My arts does get comments and favourited but sadly I don't get that many though. My arts may not be the best but I least I don't trace.

one art thief traced from other person's wolf picture. And she all like " I have to trace because I can't draw wolves"
well you can't learn with tracing either.

may I please add this to my page? I strongly agree and haven't found better stamps to get the point across this one is my exact viewpoint on tracing and heavily referencing from another's artwork.

Most of my drawings have no comments at all.

I agree, Even if you trace art just to try and get a better feel of drawing don't post it! I mean, I'm not a good quality artist but that's okay! It's at least something I made and I'm proud of it and myself, Plus, If you aren't good at drawing or don't think you're good enough then don't join an ART website, Simple really,

Tracing can help improve.
But posting a traced picture is just PLAIN WRONG

My friends NEVER see me trace. I feel like im just getting worse if i do which is why i havent traced drawings since i was seven years old. Im 14 now and my art has DEFINATLY improved. It bugs me to trace anyway's. I like to test myself by maybe copying a drawing to see how good i am at making them look the same but never anything beyond that. Really like this stamp.

There's a website I go on called ctrl+paint and it gives excellent advice on digital painting and how to improve as an artist. One of the videos talks about how tracing is okay, as long as you are only using it to study the shapes. But to trace over someone elses' work and say that it is your own is reprehensible.

Yah, I traced photos to learn to draw, but I NEVER posted them. That would be just wrong.

I don't blame ya. Art is art whether its drawn good or bad. Why can't art thieves be proud of their own artwork rather than steal from others?

I post original artwork, but...I don't get that many "real" comments. :/
I appreciate the ones I get, but lately I'm desperate for intense critique..

I honestly think that it's only okay to trace when you want to learn how to draw something, but most certainly don't go around as if it's you're own personal work!
I've never traced personally, but I will try to copy a piece of art to practice or learn. I always make sure to give the original artist credit, though.

Art theft is much worse the having bad drawing skills

If you do not like someone's art, then go away.
If you make sarcastic comments, the artist might start tracing, copying and making fan art. YOU ARE PROMOTING ART THEFT TO THOSE WHO WEAK AT ART!!!!

so, stop promoting HATRED AND VIOLENCE TO OTHER PEOPLE.

I agree. I'm not the best artist around, but I do try to draw the best I can. I used to trace, but I don't any more since now I have a few "How to Draw" books and learned from a few tutorials here on DeviantART.

Honestly I recommend life drawing over anything else. But not everyone has someone willing to put up with posing for hours at a time... XD

Anyway, yay for not tracing!

i admit, i used to trace. but now i dont because i learned the hard way. *so got yelled at* but after being countlessly yelled at, i looked up some tutorials, got some advice when i posted real art. and i got where i am now :3

IF I CAN ADMIT I TRACED BEFORE, DONT BE AFRAID D8 but now lets educate people how to draw the right way.

I will also admit to trying tracing at some point, although I did not post any of my traced stuff online.

It's really inspiring to hear from people like you

I also have to admit to it. i didnt exactly 'trace' but i would staree at a picture and draw it only slightly differently. i'vee since stopped, and for over 2...i think almost 3 years now I've improved on my own, and I still love drawing its good to hear these things too.
