Day 3: Background.

Howlite was once a Homeworld nursing gem who served in Celestite's Court. She has the ability to heal cracked gems by softly singing to them, unfortunately her voice is also defective and can dissipate the physical forms of gems by raising her voice. This eventually became her downfall when she was labeled a danger to gem society, evicted from Homeworld, and warped to a prison on Earth. many years later, the same prison was broken from the outside in by the Crystal Gems, in hope of recruiting new followers by freeing the prisoners. Some joined, some left to try to find a way back to Homeworld, and some stayed behind in the abandoned prison, like Howlite. She was befriended by a second Howlite, nicknamed Howl, who helped Howlite out of a self-loathing depression in the years that they were together. In those years, Howlite was not aware of the war for Earth's independence, and when a flash of light filled the sky one day, Howl threw himself over her and shielded her from the light, which corrupted his gem and turned him into a monster. Howlite fled the site and hasn't returned since, but often wonders if he is still there. Now she wanders the Earth in search of a friend to fill the loneliness in her heart.
