I'd rather die from cuteness than from getting hit by a car or from cancer or inheriting Alzheimer from my great-great grandmother and forgetting how to cook and accidentally setting my house of fire. Or one of the hundreds of more likely and very PAINFUL or EXPENSIVE to prevent ways. At least death by cuteness is a happy death.

As for the treatment of other ungulates, it seems to vary from episode to episode. For instance, in "A Friend in Deed" cows can walk through town as apparent equals; not necessarily citizens of Ponyville but not unwelcome. However, in "Applebuck Season," cows live in herds outside of Ponyville, exposed to the elements, geographically separated by species; and in "Boast Busters" they were suggested to sleep in barns (not necessarily owning said barn), whereas ponies get to own and live in houses. Donkeys it seems are treated as equals with no apparent disparities ("A Friend in Deed"), but mules are called "ugly" ("A Dog and Pony Show") and are poked fun of several times in the series ("Hurricane Fluttershy") yet can also be well respected (Mulia Mild in "MMMystery on the Friendship Express"). Buffalo, by their own choice, live separate from most pony populations but obviously tensions have and may continue to exist between them and ponies ("Over a Barrel"). Sheep, as seen here, are reduced to simple cattle... in the end, the show has remained inconsistent about the pony treatment towards these sentient animals, which sends contradictory signals to the audience about the real nature of pony society.
